Is Tae Kwon Do taught differently in Korea from how it is taught in the USA? |

The head instructor at my Judo club is also a 4th dan TKD bb from Yong-in U. He says it is different because he teaches a "stronger" system. Not sure if this is true because I have no point of reference. |

Yes, As long as it's not on a Army base LOL... I had the chance to train off base. And it was very intense. More focus on fighting, and more foot drills and combos, clinch, push and axe kick. The Rock Soldiers were exceptionally skilled, as they enjoyed knocking overclass American Soldiers out in Tournaments :), On base it's about the money BB in less than a year, off base instructors like to see that fighting spirit "you make knockout I make mo money". |

The Kukkiwon in Seoul is supposed to be THE premiere place in the world to train TKD. I believe WTF style is taught there. All of the full contact, hardcore TKD'ers go to train from around the world at the Kukkiwon and international tournaments are held there. I believe Steven Lopez trained at the Kukkiwon. |

There are a few schools that teach "The Korean Way" in the US. Check out a school that teaches "The North Korean Way" |

Well, consider this: your average (and I do mean average) taekwondo person in North America probably trains twice a week for 45 minutes to an hour. Your average taekwondo person in South Korea probably trains 5 days a week for multiple hours a day, the intensity of which vastly overshadows the majority of the NA average. |
