Just curious :) A little boring looking from the outside but is does have a great ride, 400HP LS2, 6-Speed, NICE interior. Its an Austrilian car by heart (Holden Monaro) but its rebaged as a Pontiac. Father is retired GM, so I can this off the PEP program for like 25k. (MRSP @ 32k) How else can you have that much fun in a new car without spending alot, having TOTALLY horrible milage (gets 23-25mpg highway), is classified as a family car to insurance companies. |

Oh well, just a random thread, I'm thinking hard about getting this. Test drove an S2000, C5, STI, EVO all in the price range. C5 was too high milage...s2000 had no balls, STI was fun and like a rail, but I don't like the lag....EVO was also fast as crap, but felt cheap...I don't know how to explain it. |

i thought the interior dash was slightly underwhelming, imo. but for everything else and all the things mentioned above (400hp), i like it quite a bit. great looking exterior, almost got one but didnt want to be waking up the neighbors with that engine and the late hours i keep. |

Overpriced piece of fuel guzzling shit IMO. Ugly as fuck. If your going to spend that kind of money get a 07 Mustang and drop a procharger in it. Less money spend, lighter car, more HP. Or a Vette. Or wait for the new Challenger which will honestly make the GTO look like complete shit IMO. |

Yeah you can Procharge a Mustang and void any warranty you have on the car, or you can get something that will blow the Mustang away while keeping the warranty in tact. The GTO is a solid car performance wise that gives you a fantastic power plant, one of the best GM interiors around and it can be had for great prices these days. |

"Yeah you can Procharge a Mustang and void any warranty you have on the car, or you can get something that will blow the Mustang away while keeping the warranty in tact." Myth. You cannot void a warranty with aftermarket parts. Now if the aftermarket part is the cause of the failure, then the manufacturer will not cover the repair on that part/system ONLY. That said, I'd easily take the GTO over the 'Stang. |

I love the 06 GTO. The added hood scoops do enough to break up the otherwise boring exterior for me. The interior is sweet. My Dad is retired GM, too. $25K you say? Well, isn't that interesting. |

I'd rather get passed in the fast lane and drive a car with aesthetic appeal. Stick with the STI. Both the Mustang and the GTO seem like lady cars. |

Trust, look into the PEP program Gmfamilyfirst.com He may have to sign up still, but that is where you get your GMS certs to buy cars... |

"aesthetic appeal." and the STI do not belong in the same sentence, imho.
I know the GTO isn't a lady killer by any means, but saying that the STI looks good is a little silly as well.

That is an ugly fucking car. Fast, and it should be going fast so people dont have to look at it long. Now this is worth getting excited about

I'd pick the GTO over the stang any day of the week. Personally though, I'd wait for the new Camaro to come out. :-) |

I think the deciding factor here is cost. The GTO @ the GM discount price is a steal. I'm still LOL @ the notion of the STi being more aesthetically appealing - the GTO is no beauty queen for sure, but come on, the STi? Please. |

The holden is a great car, but personally I'd rather the challenger (when it gets here) |

Trust and Homie are correct - the Sti is BUTT UGLY! The new Challenger looks pretty sweet. I'd still pick a new Camaro with an LS2 over it though. If the Camaro comes with an LS7 option, it'd be a no-brainer, although the price tag is gonna be a lot heftier. |
