Gibran was mentioned earlier. I am not a great fan, though I do have "the Prophet" and have read it and enjoyed it somewhat. I am also lucky enough to have "The Profit" by Kehlog Albran, a spoof. This is hilarious and I highly recommend it to readers of Gibran. |

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Well, regarding a connection Martinus-Wilber, I must admit I have no clue. But of course, there is generally a lot of ideasharing going on. |

Wilber gets most of his ideas from older guys. But the synthezising is his forte. |

Wilber is a bit of an egotistic ding dong. Concepts build stories and keep you FROM the truth. Read people who help to strip away our stories and are carefull not to allow for new concepts. |

I don't really get what sprituality is, or how any of these 'eastern thinkers' are more than just arm-chair psychologists. |

Sanguine: Do me a favor and read one book that I am going to recommend. I think its perfect: "Steppenwolf" by Hermann Hesse. Its short, so you can read in quickly. |

Well its seems to me that Siddhartha (and Demian, which was better) are for young men. Steppenwolf seems to be meant for young men who are a bit older/ hmmm Siddhartha, J.K. and D. Lama are 100% grounded in spiritualism. I mention Steppenwolf because its not. Thus, the recommendation. This is no review of the book, only the impression I got when I read it, as I remember it now many years later. Steppenwolf involves the main character who is some kind of scholar (may we call him an empiricist ? rationalist ?). He begins having experiences which seem to indicate that perhaps the structures upon which his rationalism is based are a bit illusory. I don't know if there is a resolution to the dichotomy. He seems to be conflicted and that is the theme of the book. Very different than his other works, IMHO |

I've tried meditating. It's hard to get into. But it does relax me. |

I tried meditation once, and I seemed to have a very spiritual experience. I saw intense visions - visions of myself, my friends and family. In the end, though, it turned out that I had just fallen asleep, but it was very refreshing. |

Thats what meditation is good for. Rest. If you want visions take LSD. If you want enlightenment just realize you already ARE! The act of remembering IS enlightenment. |
