Haven't checked lately, but the new Camaro I BELIEVE is supposed to be out for 2008. How do you figure the GTO is $10k less and will blow the Camaro off the road? The Camaro will weigh less, have the same (or stronger) engine, and is being specifically targeted to compete with the Mustang, not BMW's. The LS2 goat can BARELY beat the 4th gen LS1 Camaro's and Firebirds. I would expect the 5th gen Camaro to even more stout! Having said that, the LS2 GTO is indeed a "badd ride" - even if it's not the "baddest" in GM's arsenal. |

was just at the detroit NAIAS auto show last weekend, stopped by the pontiac section, and *wham* NO GTO. at that point i was informed that it had been discontinued, 2006 was the last year for production. pretty depressing... i was really considering one too. |

One just drove up supercharged to the tune of 700hp. I guess it will show up in a magazine soon enough. 1000hp is the goal |

Fin, If I was you I would definitely consider going the procharger route, or even an STS TT system. Both will give great bang for the buck and are reliable. |

The question is, how driveable is it? I'm on a 6 speed and I'll most likely be trying to throw on 275's (with the fender cut, etc.,) or go redneck and get drag bags/springs but in the back so I could throw big ass 305's. |

From everything I have heard both systems should be extremely well mannered for a daily driver, as long as you don't get greedy. A procharger setup should net you 200 hp and still drive pretty much like stock below 3k rpm as long as you have a solid tune. Above that RPM is when it will really come alive but still provide smooth power delivery. The key is having it installed by a reputable tuner, which really is no secret. Where abouts are you located? |

I have heard that Pontiac is going to get a new GTO based on the Camaro. They are also switching the Grand Prix to rear drive, based on the Holden Commodore, not sure if it will be available with a manual tranny though. |

Remember, this car is ALREADY BUILT
The only thing is how they are going to model the front end and little odds and ends, for the most part, the car is complete.
370hp V8 + Rear Wheel Drive + EXTREMELY nice interior for a "domestic"

GM will be introducing several RWD vehicles based on the forthcoming Zeta platform Camaro, unnamed large sedan (think Benz E class, Chrysler 300), and possibly another coupe. Mark |

Ah.......the tire and brake companies are waiting for the run on tires and brake pads should more large powerful sedan/coupes get to market. |

I would disagree strongly with you Adonis. Might not have been real flashy on the outside, but it certainly wasn't ugly, has one of the best interiors around, has an amazing engine and is very mod friendly. It's a winner in my book, wish they would have sold them in Canada. |

WOW! That looks badass! Can't wait to see this thing show up at my dealership. If this is in fact the final version of the vehicle, I am glad to see that they didn't tone down the looks from commodore SSV, hopefully it gets the same 370 hp powerplant. |

i traded in my 02 2 door grand prix gt, when i became a father, for the 4 door 05 grand prix gt. the baby seat moves in and out just fine. if someone can buy the last year of my lease, then i'd buy a used cts-v, or infiniti g35. this 4 door gto would be considered, but i can't buy new. stephen |

think im about to pull the trigger and get a '06. can any of you who actually drive one of these new gto's give me any "cons" to the sweet sweet luxury that is owning one? insurance hike? gas guzzling? relationship breakups because you start pulling more vitamin P being seen about town in one? my options are: A. 06 GTO (used, 8k < low miles, great price) B. '67 chevelle, cruise ready, not show. same price as GTO C. keep shlepping rides to work and get G8 in feb/mar thoughts? |

adjust - check out www.ls1gto.com for all the info on GTO's you need. The two main things to look out for on 06 GTOs is strut rub due to improper alignment/failed stut bushing and leaking struts, both problems in the front obviously. The leaking struts are a known issue with a certain build date range, the info is on ls1gto.com. This will be fixed under warranty. The strut rub is something you'll have to look out for, make sure you keep the proper air in the tires and get the strut bushing replaced if you have an issue. You can usually get the bushing replaced under warranty, but they will just use the crappy factory bushing, which will probably fail again. If you get it replaced with the Pedders or Noltec, it might cost more, but will be better in the long run. I don't consider these major issues for a car with 400hp that costs less than $30K. They are easily fixed. Gas mileage is all about how you drive it, I get 25+ on trips, but only about 17-18 around town/mixed driving. Maybe Fin can chime in with any issues he's had, I've only had mine since March and only have 4400 miles on it. I absolutly love it! |
