anyone had a look at this car. my brother is a mustang nut, he has a 01 cobra convertible, and is looking at getting this next. personally, i think the build quality on mustangs, and ford in general is rat-shit, piss poor in fact. is the gt500 any better? i know it goes like a scalded cat, in a straight line, but is that all its good for? |

I recall reading about them not being so fast for the price. What are they like 500HP but can't get anywhere close to the ZO6 in straight line speed? I could be wrong. |

I think the new GT500 is marginally faster than the old cobra due to the high weight. It is definitely no where close to as fast as the C6 Z06. The base C6 will outrun it, especially now that the C6 received a 35 hp bump for 08. |

Poor Cobra, what if you put NAUSS in it? |

You don't need nitrous, just do a pulley swap, exhaust and a tune and it will probably push well over 600 hp. |

Overall, not a bad car. Was only like few-tenths behind the 911 turbo in the "Lightning Lap" in C&D. Didn't know it could handle that well although I'm sure the feel isn't anything close to the Porsche. Has huge potential for straight-line performance. The KR edition by Shelby is supposed to really up the handling performace of the gt500. |

I had a regular GT for a week this summer and thought the build and material quality was leaps and bounds above previous Mustangs. |

The Shelby GT-500 is sweet! They handbuild a 5.4 Liter V-8 and put a supercharger on it. The suspension is a Mustang competition racing suspension. The tires are wider than normal, and its just cool. The numbers dont tell the story on it. |

I also think they added the HP without changing any of the brakes/suspension, which basically kills the handling. Guess it wouldn't matter if you don't plan on turning at all though |
