Specifically - Revolver and lever action Would you get the same caliber? Or something like .357 and 30-30? Pro's and Cons? |

I have a 357 lever gun and revolver. What do you want to do with them? The pro is they can shoot the same rounds, for me and the way I use them there are no cons. A con might be if you need a rifle with better ballistics than a pistol round will offer and you dont have any other rifles. It really comes down to what you want them for. |

I would love a combo of .357s. Those and a good shotgun, a man would be all set. |

The 45 Long Colt can be loaded to near 454 power. Thats still within the limits of the revolver. Worth checking into. Look at grybeards forums about stuff like that ( http://www.go2gbo.com/forums/index.php#3 ) Its a common question |

Just starting a debate. I hear (Read) some comments on "always get a rifle in a rifle caliber" and other comments on both in the same caliber. Just wanted to gather some collective wisdom. Thanks, Rob |

I own 22 guns, so I believe you should buy one for every ocation. But a 357, 45LC or 44 rifle is not a bad choice. One caliber has its advantages. Also if you do cowboy competition you want them both in the same pistol caliber. The 45LC, 357 and 44 will take down deer. I have a 357 and 44. I own a 30-30 but never shoot it, it collects dust. And its expensive to shoot compared to the others. For self defense the pistol rounds in the lever action are going to be powerfull, flat nose hard hitting. I am not sure of over penitration, but a nice short lever action will be effective in a tight area. (I might get one for that reason, I dont want to fire my 30-30 in the house)Also you have a higher capacity with the pistol round. I googled lever action for self defense and got good answers. |

Its dangerous that I think about this, now I want a lever action in 357 or 44 to match my revolvers. The rifle also shoots 38 spls and 44spls. This is a good idea, and its not too expensive so my wife wont mind too much. |
