Yep, that is the viffer, except the side fairing are removed. I have to raise it back up, straighten the front fairing stay and do some little fix ups on it. Then she'll be ready to ride. |

Great stable. I'm actually thinking of selling my SV-S. I'm thinking of replacing it with something with an upright seting position. My wrists are starting to complain from the clip-ons. |

Have you thought about just getting some helibars PM? I sat on an SV1k that was equipped with them and the position was actually fairly close to the bars on my naked. And you're just an allen wrench away from back down to stock.
Course if you just want a new toy the aprilia tuono sits pretty upright and is what the SV wants to be when its all grown up. ;)

Yeah, I'll probably end up just putting different bars on it. A Tuono would be awesome, but I really like my SV. I just have to make it more comfortable. I'm also toying with a big bore kit to turn it into an 800, and converting to total streetfighter. We'll see. |

I toyed with the idea of a big bore kit, full exhaust, traxxion forks, penske rear.... To make the ultimate SV. But then I came to my senses and realized I'd have spent over 10k to make a budget bike into a true sportbike and who knows if the motor would hold up under the day to day stresses I put them through. (WOT, cruise at 50, wait for the stoplight in 100+ degree weather, WOT, etc....) I think the SV is best thought of and treated like what it is. So the low cost mods are kind of the way to go. gixxer forks, 636 or gixxer rear shock, pc3 and slipon, some cosmetics and call it good. Anyway, I'll wait on the fate of my SV. Once the VFR is on the road I might have to sell it and get 'shudder' a car...... |

Makes a lot of sense. I swapped out the suspension (Race Tech springs and emulators up front, and a gixxer shoick out back), added a Holeshot slip on, Galpher brake lines and pads, and then a few cosmetic things as well. The only thing I really want to change now is getting a bit more upright. |

He wanted $4k but I got him down to $3400. I suspect I'll spend somewhere around 1k more to get EVERYTHING done on it. |

Oh man, I feel like a kid a week out from x-mas. The bike is in the shop getting a going over. I've got pazzo shorty levers on the way, these are a must for two finger riders. Probably gonna do new pads and that of course requires I get some SS lines on there. ;) Rear has the stock triangles back on, fork seals are being done. I'm sending the lowering triangles to a gentleman in singapore in exchange for a stock front fairing stay. You can't really see in the pics but the front fairing is tweaked about half an inch to the left. Its barely noticeable unless you are looking down at the gauge cluster and see the tach offset. I can't wait to ride it, arrggh!!!1 |

Sounds good. I've taken a look at those levers, and they are nice. I've never pulled the trigger on them yet, eeven though I think I would only want the brake lever. |

I've got them on the SV, they're worth every penny. As soon as I rode a week with them I decided I'd have them on every bike I own. pashnit.com does group buys every year for them so they're less spendy. I just squeeked in on the last one. |

Ok, it is back to stock height, has a brake lever and has the fairings on. Found out there are a few fasteners and misc stuff missing that I'll have to order from ronayers, the level of ass-hattery from the previous owner was pretty high. You can tell he is one of those guys that prides himself on doing his own work but doesn't do anything with say..... a service manual. Shoddy work shows.
Still, the bike ride very nice. I guess I got used to the stock damper rod suspension and somewhat bouncy rear on the SV and didn't realize what I was missing. Although the VFR is heavier and only has preload for the fronts it feels much more planted in the turns. The bike came with chicken strips which I promptly removed.
The bike sounds awesome! At cruising revs you hear the gear driven cams. Get on it and you hear the growl from the jardine. Ergos are great. The only issue I see is freeway noise. The shield directs the wind dead square in the center of my faceshield so there is a lot of sound. Not buffet, because the windflow is smooth. Just there it is directed. I think I might get one of those laminar lips to get the wind up higher on the helmet.
All in all I'm pleased, I just have a few minor details to finish up on and it'll be perfect! New pics below:
