Average takedown defense, guard passed like it was nothing by a guy with a 75" waist, rocked standing. Fedor by GnP TKO :30 round one. |

he didn't look to great on the ground but think that more a credit to Nelson being pretty damn good on the ground than andrei being incompetent there |

How about passing his guard within seconds of hitting the ground? |

Do you think Barnett or Fedor or Gonzaga or Werdum or whomever wouldn't have finished that kimura? |

At this point, nobody could hang with Fedor. |

BJ > DORKUS - guard passed like it was nothing by a guy with a 75" waist Not disagreeing with your overall point, but it's hard to keep someone in guard when you can't close you legs. |

BJ > DORKUS - Do you think Barnett or Fedor or Gonzaga or Werdum or whomever wouldn't have finished that kimura? We don't really know if AA would have presented the same options to those guys. It is not entirely impossible, that AA wasn't aggressively defending (just doing enough not to get sub'd) the kimura because he didn't feel he was in a lot of danger and it was better Nelson focused on that, rather than GNP'ing. There are times it makes sense to let a guy work on something you are not too scared of so that he doesn't work on something that you are scared of. |

AA has really good lateral movement and good punching power. when he's on he could be a serious threat to Fedor his ground game and wrestling are often sub par, he's not a consistent fighter. could be a mental thing |

Fedor has faster hands, vastly better wrestling and ground. My point with this thread is that Arlovski is less of a threat to Fedor than Barnett or even Couture. |

i disagree that Fedor's hands are faster. AA showed extremely fast hands vs Buentello and Eilers Couture is ZERO threat to Fedor. can't strike with him, can't out-wrestle him, can't submit him Barnett has more of a chance just becase of his size out of all the HWs out there, a disciplined AA is the best bet to test Fedor. lateral movement and fast punches, if he can do that for 5 or 10 minutes no one disputes that Fedor is the better fighter, but AA has a way to win if he can control himself |

WhiteWhale - i think barnett is a bigger threat That just means he'll get KO'd instead of submitted. |

"Couture is ZERO threat to Fedor. can't strike with him, can't out-wrestle him, can't submit him" Why on earth would Randy not be able to outwrestle Fedor? Fedor ended up on his back against Mark Hunt TWICE, for god's sake. |

Randy ended up on his back vs Ricco and Barnett too and "Because he's a 45 or 46 year old man" is the answer to your question |

Fedor was getting hurt on the ground by Hunt at one point, big fat guys can be tough to deal with from the bottom. |

"Randy ended up on his back vs Ricco and Barnett too" I suspect Fedor would have as well. "and "Because he's a 45 or 46 year old man" is the answer to your question" Maybe, but we haven't seen any weaknesses in his wrestling yet. |

I said that sometimes, Orcus does have good insight between many retarded post. Orcus, although off on the way of the finish, was fairly close to the time frame. Nothing he says on this thread I disagree with. Including the part about Randy. |

Just to put it into perspective, Orcus was not in the majority in picking a first round tko. Many people weren't sure about this outcome: http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=forum.posts&forum=1&thread=1406573&page=2 |

Damn you arlovski, you were looking great, then you got reckless. that ko was prettt much the beginning of the end for the pitbull. If he was a little more patient who knows where arlovski would be right now.

leftlegtrumpcard - Arlovski was in it until he jumped for the stars with that damn knee!!!! That's what was so exciting about Fedor's fights. Against Nog, Nog was the man, Fedor was the underdog. Fedor surprised everyone, despite most thinking he was going to lose. Same with Cro Cop.(maybe not an underdog, but most felt if anyone would be the first, it'd be Mirko) Then, with fights against Fujita, Hunt, AA,Randleman, Rogers, When those guys started doing good against Fedor, while watching we get this feeling like, "is this it? Is this the one? Will this be the fight?" And then, BAM, Fedor pulls some shit and gets a W seemingly out of nowhere. |
