I keep a gallon of 40:1 mix in my garage for my chainsaw and hedge trimmer and it's right next to my other gas can (yeah i know bad idea) and i filled up my lawnmower with the 40:1 mixture...i haven't done anything with it yet but would it hurt my 4 stroke mower if i just ran it or should i definitely drain it out?

Nope but if it was castrol R, you could tell the kids your mower is on nitrous and they would believe you just from the smell.

so it's not really a big deal to just run that tank? could it be good in the sense of a little extra combustion chamber lubrication
