Do any of you guys have GPS in your patrol cars for navigation? If so is it provided by your department or did you have to buy it yourself? Also if you had to buy it yourself what are the best brands to buy and the easiest to use. |

Only certain squads get them in my office (unfortunately not mine), so I ponied up the $200 and got one of my own. Well worth it, IMO. |

i wish i had GSP in my cruiser - "GSP, chase that guy!" "GSP, take him down!" "GSP, knock him out!" every cruiser should come equipped with a GSP in the back seat! |

LOL at GladiatorGannon I was thinking the same thing. That would be awesome. Instead of K-9's you let the "GSP" out of the backseat... |

Around here, we think of it as a very negative thing--the units allow HQ personnel to see exactly where you are at all times, and record that info every 10 seconds (this can be stored for years). BAD news. |

Not for navigation. It's for the brass to be able to track us for disciplinary reasons. |

You will eventually learn the town. Believe it or not you figure out the numbering system for your town. When they built the fucker there was usually a method to their madness. |

Wouldn't want GSP in my car. The oil might stain my seats. |
