Anyone have any input about buying/owning a liquor store? If you're not looking to be filthy rich but would like to make a decent living while being your own boss would this be the way to go? |

Every locality is different, but for instance where I live, getting the liqour license is super hard since they stopped awarding new ones since 1967. |

Say you bought an existing, functional store.....would the license transfer over to the new owner? |

Again, assuming a similar set of locality laws...you would have to go before your local liquor board to have the transfer approved. They'll probably want to take a look at your finances as well as your criminal background if any. Also, the general public may have the option to protest a transfer of the license. Of course, I'm speaking generally here but that's usually the deal. |

BTW, if you're serious about a liquor store and have some cash to invest: www.brewthru.com/index.cfm I'm hearing very positive things about the franchise. |

Thanks for the link on BrewThru. I think that'd go pretty good here in NOLA. We already have drive thru daiqairi shops. |

Like I said, I'm hearing it's very popular. You'd still have to get through all your liquor board applications and permit issues. |

Liquor board here is an easy step. fill out that application and pay the fees. The one thing that we'll always approve here is food and drink. |
