You could see the ocean from there, you can see the ocean from most places on the Big Island, although not all. That place would have no water, no electricity, and no roads servicing it which is why it is so cheap. That and it's un-insurable, as it's sitting on an active volcano, near a fault zone, in a hurricane pathway. But the view is probably very solid.

$45k is a steal for Hawaii, most homes begin at 10 x's that.
