I'm a fishing newbie, only gone once before. We're going up to some cali mountains, camping, and fishing for trout. Last time for bait i used salmon eggs, that flourescent-colored clay-like fishy stuff, and those worms. Any advice on other bait, or any tips on catching? I caught about 4 last time, in the creeks, but they had a pond where those elusive f'ers wouldnt bite. They actually ate the worm i used, every part except what was on the hook.

I'm a bait fisherman mostly when it comes to trout. If you can find them, butterworms work great. They are pretty expensive though. Maggots, mealworms, waxworms, and night crawlers all work too. I've found that certain worms work better in certain creeks and on certain days than others. I ususally keep trying unitl I find the right one. I'm leaving tomorow for camp and it's the first time I been out this year. I can't wait. You have ignored this user.
