Hey there, I am currently looking for any recommendation you all may have involving Vampires. This is for the wife, She has read Twilight and is a "Twi Freak" I am looking for any other books that may spark interest. So any help in this genre will help THANKS! |

Maybe those "dead until dark" books that true blood is based on? My recommendation is to see if you can get her enthused about zombies, instead. |

While I was a little disapointed in it, you could try The Strain. Alternative to more of those sparkiling vampire romance novels. Or for more romance type tell her to read the Anne Rice books. |

Michael Romkey's vampire trilogy - not as childish as Twilight, but does have a serious "romance" undertone, which may appeal to her in that sense... |

Funny that no one has mentioned Huston's books (All the Blood in Brooklyn, etc). Probably because they're definitely dark and more 'guy' oriented Hamilton jumped the shark after Blue Moon. Her early stuff defined the genre for most, though |

Vampire$ by John Steakley. Carpenter made a movie out of it but it didn't even approach the greatness of the book. Steakly is such a squirrel though. Guy wrote two great books, the other is Armor a sci-fi book, that shared character names. Both still in print. Never wrote another thing. |

I have both steakely's books. He's missing his calling writing scripts. Armor is a classic |

He supposedly was writing a werewolf book but that evidently never came to fruition. |

Brian Keene just finished a vampire novel that will be out in 2011, think it's tentatively entitled "Teeth" |

Dracula and I Am Legend should be first on the list. |

Seul - Maybe those "dead until dark" books that true blood is based on? I read all but the last one. I like the series, although it started strong and is well past its prime. |

I am Legend is indeed awesome. "The Strain" was a very good newer book, and the first in a trilogy. I have every Brian Keene book written for Lesiure fiction, and he seems to be going downhill. Urban Gothic just pretty much straight out sucked. But I have high hopes for "Teeth". Salem's Lot was fantastic. The Sookie Stackhouse books are surprisingly good once you get into them. |

MikeD -Seul - Maybe those "dead until dark" books that true blood is based on? I just read "Dead in the Family," the last in the Sookie Stackhouse series. This was the first book I've read in a long time that I struggled to make it through. I'm not hard to pleasure, but this was just a brutal read. All over the place...nothing really happening. It was ~ 310 pages with maybe 50 of actual crucial plot content. I hate to see a series that was so good initially plumet to this. I doubt I'll read any of the future entires in the series. At least the first 6 or so were really good. |

Badder Harry - Abe Lincoln: Vampire HunterIt's not Moby Dick but I was thoroughly entertained. It depends on what you're looking for. I wanna sit down, read something and get lost in it a bit. I don't wanna be taxed thinking about the vocabulary lol. |
