there to hear it, does it make a sound? I think it does. Especially considering that there are animals there that can hear it. Also, if you were to record the incident and play back at a later date, it would have sound. |

Animals can't hear. They can see but only in black and white. Dude, aren't you a teacher? Do I have to learn you everything? |

What if, instead of a bird, it was a cat. Particularly, what if it was a man named "Schrodinger's" Cat. How specifically would the nature of this cat's observation of the tree falling effect the nature of the fall itself. What if this cat had a hat, is it the same cat as Schrodinger's ? Is that where he gets his powers ? What if it was an earthworn that observed it ? |

By 'sound' you can mean either the force of motion of a thing (usually the air, but not always), and also the sensory and perception of such a force. The answer to your question depends on which of these two you mean. If no person or animal is there to "hear" the sound, than there would be no perception of the concussive force of the tree falling, but there would still be the force. |

What do you mean by sound? If by sound, you mean a "sound wave" (essentially just a shock wave that displaces air), then yes. If you mean the perception sound...then I don't know. |

the real question is why do humans who are the dominant species of planet earth with all it's resources at our disposal spent time on a topic that even if the answer was found would not improve anyones life at all |

I just farted and none of you heard it, but it sure as fuck made a sound. It may seem like a stupid thing to say, but it's following the same logic as your question. |
