Isn't having a legal job also an opportunity to learn? |

ok..in all seriousness..you dont learn a ton about being a lawyer in law school, but you do learn something... for example, i took a securities regulation class in 3L that ended up helping me a lot..to this day, the policies I learned still help me understand the law... should law school just be 2 years? perhaps, but i dont think 3 years hurts (other than your wallet) |

pretty much. if i did it over again, i might use it as an opportunity to find a part-time job at a firm to learn some real stuff before graduation. might. |

in reality, third year should be substantially devoted getting practical experience. my third year was substantially devoted to writing papers for classes I didn't want to take. |

What if there are more law students than available part-time jobs? |

then you're screwed and should have stayed at that job you had before you went to law school? sorry, dude. srsly, even if it's a volunteer position, practical experience should be useful. |

I volunteered over the summer and enjoyed the experience so much that I didn't want to come back to school. |

3L was the best year because I had a job so no stress there and I took the classes I wanted because I didn't care what went on my transcript anymore. Had some of my best classes 3L. Plus, second semester I only had to take 3 classes. All were on Tues/Thurs except for a seminar I never went so, so I got drunk a lot. Fri-Mon and Wed off and only took 2 classes on Tues/Thurs which were consecutive. It was awesome. |
