I'm sick and tired of paying $5/can for these things on Amazon, but I refuse to cook with anything else. A few smaller online stores have them a little cheaper, but charge a fortune for shipping. |

theyre supposedly the best for pizza or tomato sauce in general. canned San Marzano that is. i dont know if i agree but just about everyone swears by it. |

if you have any means of growing your own tomatoes, do it and can your own. if you can't grow them yourself, pick up a bushel at a farmers market and can them. a bushel will run about $20, give or take a couple and you'll get a little more than 20 quarts from a bushel. all it will cost you in time is an afternoon. we use a ton of tomatoes in our cooking (wife is arab) and there is nothing better than going to the pantry and choosing a particular heirloom type of tomato to go with a dish. |
