sociaLheadachE - He's a fucking cheater. Fuck Thiago, what a piece of shit. No respect for liars and cheaters. ATT should kick this idiot out. <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/> Seems like you have no respect for fighters. Thiago obviously had good intentions and only had the substance in his system because of his back surgery. He did not want to say anything because he thought it would hinder his chances of fighting. Now he makes a statement speaking the entire truth, admitting his mistake and saying he will become a better person for this. And you crucify him for this? How are you a better person than Thiago... go take your ignorance somewhere else. |

JonasLind - Am I the only one who is not buying this "I only did it to heal my back" baloney? The kid looked like a mini hulk vs vera No. I really don't get the love fest in this thread. Silva went into that fight jacked up on God knows what, engaged in all sorts of disrespectful roid rage induced antics while beating Vera down, briefly cost Vera his job with his cheating, repeatedly LIED about cheating after he was first busted and now someone from ATT posts an apology that he didn't write, and half the UG kneels down to kiss his ass while pontificating about what a "classy" guy he is. I just don't understand this forum sometimes. |

He deserves respect as a man but not as a fighter.
If they fail, their record should return to 0-0 coz how many fight camps do we no they used, in my job if I fucked up I could kill someone and I'd lose my license, not for 6 months or 12 months, forever. everything I had worked for in my career would be all gone coz of a mistake and it should be the same for their career, that'd make em all think real long and hard before they did the dodgy.
I think thaigo is fucking cool fighter but god damn why take the risk, if a fighter tested positive for a banned substance and killed another fighter, then what?

He's not the first fighter to admit to using PEDs. Sylvia, Sonnen and Bonnar have admitted such. And just like them he's probably lying about his reason for using. Unless a fighter actually confesses to using PEDs for performance enhancement, we should be skeptical. |

Still is very heart breaking because he is one of my favorite fighters and has tons of potential. Atleast he manned up admiting his mistake and wont do it again. |

He should be cut. I'd rather a dude throw a shot at me after the bell than fight with an obvious advantage of being jacked up on roids. |

He just earned himself another fan for owning up to his mistakes. Can't wait now for him to get off suspension and get back into it. |

Thiago is fucked. His purse was $110,000 for UFC 125 (55 and 55). NSAC made Karo Parisyan give back $32,000 of his $80,000 purse (40%). NSAC will hand down a penalty similar. What if Thiago already spent the money? |

I don't understand all the respect he is getting either. If he is that great of a man then why didn't he release a statement before the fight rather then try to mask the issue and hope he didn't get caught. |

Not a hero or a villain, just a guy that made a bad decision. I don't understand what banned substance you would inject 45 days before a fight that would allow you to train (anti inflammatory corticosteroids are legal surely?) but its understandable that the guy would want to take the fight and not drop out. I'll look forward to seeing him fight after his supension. |

I love(hate) how the majority of people looking for a burning at the stake are what I am assuming is kids (10-11's). The man has never tested positive in his UFC career. His back injury is well documented, and also his reinjury. It is in the relm of possibility that he did in fact not want to give up another pay check and wanted to try anything he could to improve his back. Everything I have read and heard from people closer to the scene than the kids calling him names is it was his back that started things, and not some plan on his part to hulk on on vitamin s. |

fair play to the guy, none of the Josh Barnett style denying it, think this is what saves Silva's job, he won't get off suspension but he won't lose all respect like certain others have done |

YouCantHandleMyRiddum - He confessed after getting caught... I still have no respect for him because he tried to beat the system and he came out with a statement like this when it failed. Once you grow up, you will see the world is not black and white. You sound like you live in the extremes still. He did something wrong i.e. you hate him now and want him to get hurt |

Cheating in a combat sport is COMPLETELY different from cheating when you play, say baseball. These guys are trying to destroy each other in the ring/cage. I have very little respect for guys who use PED's to cheat. They cheat the fans, their opponent, the UFC, and even themselves. He got caught, fessed up like a man, but we wouldn't even know about this if the athletic commission didn't have rigorous procedures to prevent this cheating. Again, I think penalties for cheating the system in a combat sport such as MMA need to be MUCH higher. All guys do is get a slap on the wrist and they can continue down the road... |

in the future, i wonder if fighters/teams will have "mayweather" type demands when matched up with ATT fighters |

Those injections for his back dont explain how he gained muscle mass. I believe he used another type of illegal substance to help him get back on track, and to another level, after a year off and had this story as a back up |

We all know what he was injecting. Still, he should get more props for confessing than certain shrunken gonad possesors/morgage defrauders who don't..... |

It was a clear attempt to cheat and get away with it with his use of animal urine. I wonder how he would have felt having cheated and won against Vera and essentially getting Vera fired and losing his job. He would have been taking food off Vera's table if he had gotten away with this. It's nice that he at least admitted it instead of lying like others, but there is simply no reasoning for pissing animal urine, so he had no choice but to admit it really. I have no respect for those that cheat by taking PED's. MMA as a sport is tough enough as is, when you give someone a significant competitive advantage in taking PED's, that is simply unfair to those who don't cheat. Funny enough, the reasoning behind most cheaters is that everybody else does it. |

Chit happens. Dude's a killer. It's only up from here. I hope he fights Shogun or Quinton when he comes back. There are a lot of great fights out there with Thiago Silva. |
