PassnSmash -androushka - That was one of the worst "fights" ever in history That fight in Pride w/ Masake Sataki and that big fat old japanese pro wrestler was actually FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR worse. They litterally spent the entire fight, in one corner,....just hugging. |

The undercard of Inoki vs. Ali had Andre the Giant vs. Chuck Wepner, the guy who they based Rocky on (based on an incident when Ali slipped in a fight and everyone thought Wepner knocked him down). |

glad someone posted the milo savage (a boxer) vs gene lebell fight..considered the first mma fight in the united states. inoki vs ali..that fight was doomed from the start..there was a stipulation where inoki couldn't kick unless he was on the ground..he didn't want to get knocked out on the feet so he just butt scooted and kicked that way.. takada actually tried to imitate this later on by fighting boxer trevor berbick..that was an even more embarassing fight with berbick walking out of the fight when takada kept kicking him which berbick said was against the rules in their match |

The first MMA/Vale Tudo fight was in the 18th century. We Americans should be proud of our history and know it a bit better. Exactly, there were numerous NHB like rules fights around the turn of the 20th century, some involving pretty well known Jui-Jitsu men, wrestlers and boxers. Charles Olsen won a bunch of these type fights including at least one with a series of brutal head-butts against a highly ranked jui-Jitsu man. But, as noted these fights go back much farther, to the "rough-and-tumble" era. |
