Going to be tough to recommend any books from here on out because the list is very comprehensive. However, if anyone thinks of one I’ve missed, please let me know. |

Andre, I've started reading Phil Gordon's Little Green Book lately since your recommendation. I had kind of written it off before. I certainly was wrong! It's a very good book! |

PoWdA101 -SiftMyMind - I have a lot of poker books. I dismissed this post when I first read it because I usually don't fuck with Omaha. I have played a few PLO games since then and now I see the merit of what you are saying. |

SiftMyMind -PoWdA101 -SiftMyMind - I have a lot of poker books. I think that this book had one of the biggest impacts on my game as a whole. It could have been what Jeff was saying, how he sid it, or that I was just reading this book at the right time but it changed the way I play poker. I mean I was generally super tight all of the time as every time I went out trying to play a loose style I seemed to get smacked right back in to place time and time again and I felt like I was destined to be the rock forever. Jeff emphasised that in PLO you are not playing just for what is in the pot, but your opponents entire stack. For some reason this simple concept seemed to be evading me all along. I had heard it many times, in different forms. Like how someone might not go against an opponent with a borderline hand because their stack was too small. It was not that I did not understand implied odds but he really seemed to tie together the fact that I don't just want a hand that can win a pot but a hand that can take my opponents entire stack. This line of thinking changed my game. I now have a much clearer picture of just what I am doing out in big pots with questionable hands and when to back off, when to step on the gas, and when to trap. Again, this is a great book and not only did this book have a profound impact on my Omaha game but it had a very good effect on my hold em game as well. Also, this is the only book I have come across that details PLO 8 strategy which was a nice bonus. |

PoWdA101 -SiftMyMind -PoWdA101 -SiftMyMind - I have a lot of poker books. I've played PLO a few more times since this post and have done fairly well. It's like Hold 'em on steroids since great hands are commonplace. Playing PLO has definitely improved my hold 'em game and, although I haven't read Jeff's book yet, it's definitely on my "to do" list. |

I recently purchased and began reading "Elements of Poker" by Tommy Angelo. While it won't help you make decisions regarding equity, I think it's a must for anyone who wants to play for a living. I was really impressed with his approach to tilt and playing professionally.

SiftMyMind - I've been reading The Poker Tournament Formula Vol. 1 and I think it's hurt my game by following the advice. I have to revisit this statement that I made. While the initial application of the concepts of this book did hurt my game for a while, I have ultimately been able to better understand these concepts and more properly incorporate them into my game. The results have been no less than outstanding! I am the money leader (by a lot!!!) in my league where we play small but ‘fast’ tournaments. I now recommend The Poker Tournament Formula Vol. 1 very highly for people who play ‘fast’ tournaments. I am now in the process of reading The Poker Tournament Formula Vol. 2 which deals with ‘slow’ tournaments in the hopes of improving my ‘slow’ tournament skills. I will advise how this works out for me. |

Sift, I would think the strategy in Kill Phil would also be great for fast tournaments like you are describing. I see that you have read it. I remember when I first read that book I was like what the fuck are these people trying to do to my game?! Then, after playing a lot of tournaments I really started to grasp that their concepts are very good for short stack play or fast paced tournaments. I think I gained a good idea of what to do when short stacked from that book and I ended up taking a lot from it and my short stack game improved so so much. As well as my strategy for fast jam or fold tournaments like you are describing. Just my 2 cents. |
