Dead Again - Batman should also be just staring out. If an inexperienced Batman can swipe the GL ring, in a year or two Batman will be able to will himself through time. I thought Flashpoint is before the reboot...so that particular scene doesn't make a whole lot of sense, now that you mention it. |

"I'm having a hard time with Superman knocking the crap out of GL and then talking nicely to Batman" Didn't seem that way to me at all. GL is high on himself, so Supes knocked him down a peg, but he is also high on himself. Check the smirk when he asks Batman what he can do. It's as if he's saying, "you ain't got nothin' on ME." "I thought Flashpoint is before the reboot...so that particular scene doesn't make a whole lot of sense, now that you mention it." At the end of Flashpoint, it's said that Flash changed the timeline into three different and seperate lines. When he went back and set things right again, it seemed to me that the timeline he put together wasn't the original one he left when he splintered it in the first place. I figured by Batman wearing the "52" suit, that Flash somehow changed the timeline again. I could be wrong though. |

Invincible - "I'm having a hard time with Superman knocking the crap out of GL and then talking nicely to Batman" Granted, this is a completely different Superman, but that doesn't seem like Superman to me (taking someone down a peg by knocking them into next month, being high on himself, smirking, what have you got?, etc....). FWIW, that also doesn't seem to match the Superman that Morrison has described. |

^^True, but that was an uprovoked attack on GL. Usually, Supes waits to get smacked up before he does anything. He asks questions first, shoots later. This Superman struck preemtively. |

Supes heard GL say he would 'handle' him. Maybe he took offense. |

It felt a lot like All Star Batman. I'm really on the fence. This could be good or awful... |

I liked it. And yeah, that opening scene seemed like it was swiped directly from something else. Year 100, maybe? I'll have to go look. |

Very doubtful Livewire. Almost every #1 these days gets grabbed up by speculators and slabbed. |

Funny story from the comic shop I frequent. Guy brings in a Spawn #1 and wants to pay to have it slabbed. (For those unfamiliar with the practice you pay 30-60 bucks to send the comic in somewhere and they grade it and seal it in a big plastic case.) Comic shop owner tells him, it's not really worth that much and there is not much point in having it slabbed. The guy counters and says, oh this one is special, it's signed by Todd McFarlane and Al Simmons! True story. |

Dead Again - Batman has been training since he was a kid and to me it looked like he was a little more experienced in this. That's not what I understand. Batman is one of the few (possibly the only) character who's origin and backstory should be intact with this reboot. So while his parents were still murdered when Bruce was a kid, Year One, etc... are still canon. So, Batman's only been training since he became an adult. Add to that, he's younger and less experienced than the "old" Batman we were familar with. Batman may be more experienced and better trained than the rest of the JLA, but he should still be a n00b compared to the "old" Batman. |

FYI... here's a review from CBR http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=user_review&id=3854 snipette: "Ultimately, this is an average comic that is undone by being the first issue of "Justice League." It's hard to keep from thinking that placing the origin story first was a big mistake, that this should have been the second story. Instead, open "Justice League" #1 with the new team already in place, and introduce the characters quickly and efficiently to the reader as we see what it's like to have them all working together and fighting bad guys. In other words, give the new audience that you're so desperately trying to entice a glimpse of what this book is about. Because instead, what we're getting isn't really a story about the Justice League, it's a story about Batman and Green Lantern's first meeting, plus a non-cyborg look at Cyborg's pre-hero life. It's not a bad script, but it's not enticing, and it's probably not what "Justice League" will be like on most months." |

paw -I mostly agree with you Paw. He could have shown his value by already having a bunch of intel on Supes (which he still kinda did). But, I didn't find it that unbelievable that a guy who spent time mastering a lot of criminal trades as a part of his training (which would include slight of hand and pick-pocket skills) could swipe the ring of an arrogant and unsuspecting GL.BigWilliam - Bats swiping the ring is the best way for him to show he is on level with GL. Which of course he ISN'T, but dc has to do it somehow right? |

I thought him swiping the ring was perfectly reasonable. |

paw -I agree that his orgin should be intact, but even in Year One it shows that he had been training while he was away from Gotham throughout his childhood/teen years etc.Dead Again - Batman has been training since he was a kid and to me it looked like he was a little more experienced in this. He didn't become Batman until he became an adult but he had trained and prepared for something since very young. If they're keeping his origin intact, than this training should still be there, as well as when he thought about and prepared to go into law enforcement (FBI I think). At this point he was already trained by the top martial artists in the world, a highly trained detective etc. So, let's say they all get their suits at the same time. Batman has had all the training and preparation to wear the suit, where as Hal got the ring and had never even considered fighting crime until that point. Batman would be better trained and more mentally prepared than GL for this sort of thing. |

Re: the revelation of "3 timelines" in Flashpoint. I think this definitely points to the New 52 being an "Ultimates" universe. I think the New 52 is the third time line, with the original DCU being the first and Flashpoint being the other. I think that after all these launch (and it may take a year or so), there will be a return to the orginal DCU with the New 52 Universe running alongside it. Hence I would expect a lot of stuff like what we are currently seeing in marvel's Ultimates with main characters being killed off, some characters being "harder" than their previous portrayal, and some differences in powers and abilities. Which leads me to my next point... It's not a bad script, but it's not enticing, and it's probably not what "Justice League" will be like on most months." To the contrary, I think what we are seeing is EXACTLY the type of story we will be seeing in the new JLA in most months. I think it will be a looong time before these characters develop into the team we knew them as, IF THEY EVER DO. None of this is necessarily a bad thing. A lot of us have suspected this is their version of Ultimates and, imo, the clues are all there that it is. We'll see if I turn out to be right. |

JudOWNED - Re: the revelation of "3 timelines" in Flashpoint. I agree. Good analysis. I posted on the Flashpoint Thread that it looks like DC left itself a way out with Batman and Flash both having knowledge of some of the events and with Booster Gold being left clues on the chalk board. |
