JV with another win, now 24-5 with a 2.29 ERA. Will probably get 1 more start this season before the playoffs begin. |

watching the other division clinches tonight, this first round is going to be work. lots of other tough teams going into the playoffs, teams with hitting power that can equalize our "four" starters. can't depend on verlander to take this all the way, and the batting to stay consistent enough to continually play bail-out, really going to need to step up as a team. my forecast, i think our utility players and bullpen are going to steal the show... |

To win the WS or any championship, your stars need to play like stars AND you role players need to play over their heads. They've got to step up with clutch hits. Etc. Mark

i'm so apprehensive to talk about anything for fear of jinxing (i'm the type of charlie brown that feels like my teams lose games bc i'm sitting there watching), but i'm liking the tapestry that's getting weaved here... peralta is coming back around at just the right time - the guy has been the biggest underrated contributor all season, betemit appears to be healthy in time to play the big games, which i'm hoping has made him extra hungry having had to sit and watch, and my favorite utility player, donny kelly, is turning into the player i always thought he could be if he was given enough at bats. glad to see boston win tonight (something i've never said in my life), i like our chances against them a shitton more than the rays who are coming on like a frate trane in this final stretch. even though we had their number in the last series, my gut doesn't like the idea of a rematch in the post season. texas, yanks and the halos don't raise concern with me at the moment, although a verlander v. weaver rematch in the post season would make great tv, and i'd love to see that punk weaver get tooled again. god willing, it's the national league that is going to have me throwing back extra drinks to stay calm. i think the brewers have got "it" right now, and the irony of meeting the dbacks with gibby at the helm is just too much to ponder... |

I don't think I have enough Booms for tonight. Ass whooping for sure. Doug Fister was the best deal of the season, bar none. It was 6-0 when I left the suite for the cigar lounge, 14-0 when I left the cigar lounge. Mark

One game out of 2nd with a game left and holding the tie-breaker. The Angels have packed it in for the rest of the year, looks like we'll be heading to NYC for the first round. |
