JesusTapped -supersaiyan -This. But absolutely a full fledged RPG...though not dialogue heavy like Mass Effect or even the Final Fantasy series. It's not a choose your own adventure as much as a huge world that simply wants you dead.El_Clap - Wait, is this an RPG like oblivion style or is it a slasher game like ninja gaiden? i am kinda glad its not like Masseffect 2...at first it was no plm but i swear i got sick of EVERY living interaction as a sequestering/interrogation session in ME2 lol... i wanna get into the game u know lol :) at least with rAGe i can just come in contact with ppl without all the "destiny/fate" drama with it. |

Seriously??? This game is, as advertised, hardcore. But you always feel as if victory is attainable, if only you focus a bit harder and calculate each move a bit more precisely. ...and then you die again.

If you want a temporary uber weapon, shoot the dragon's tail while hanging out under the bridge. |

Played about half an hour drunk last night. My internet connection was shit so it would drop out not that it matters so much in the begining. So so...so far...the again it was only 30 minutes and it will take me a while to relearn all of the damn moves. |

I spent about two hours on it last night. First thought: anyone who hasn't played Demon's Souls is fucked. Dark Souls starts at a point that's basically halfway through Demon's Souls. The bastards actually did make it harder. I haven't had frustrations yet, but I can't see anybody who isn't well versed in the combat getting anywhere. You have to be able to backstab and riposte like a boss right from the start. |

Some tips after playing for a few hours: After you get past the tutorial area go towards where that guy that is sitting is looking (up the cliff side, not down the stairs) Going any other way I got my ass kicked by skeletons and ghost (though you can get a decent shield in the graveyard if you survive long enough) Later on, when you kill the two guys with spears and shields over on the right side (standing on the stone balcony thing with a bunch of boxes) there is a hidden staircase blocked by boxes that has a merchant downstairs. Later on, after you kill the 3 guys at the bottom of the stairs (after you kill the guy in the sniper perch) there is a really tough bastard. You can run away and climb up the ladder and throw firebombs to weaken him) On the steep staircase if he is above you, you can spear him and his sword attack goes above your head without hitting you. |

jman - How in the fuck do you even kill that huge first boss in the begining??? I assume you mean the second time you encounter it, when you have your weapons. Watch it carefully. When it swings, roll. You'll get invicibility frames. Hit it with one hard attack (R2, or whatever the xbox uses) and retreat. Repeat. |

jman - How in the fuck do you even kill that huge first boss in the begining???Haha I'm stuck at that fucker too.. Every time I get close to beating it I get killed.!! Also, I never played Demon Souls but am fucking loving this new one so far!! A couple quick questions.. 1) Should I buy Demon Souls? 2) When creating your character in the beginning what is the best class to choose and gift to select?

1) Should I buy Demon Souls?

2) When creating your character in the beginning what is the best class to choose and gift to select? 1) Of course. 2) Warrior is a solid, well rounded character. The Master Key is supposedly the only item you can't find in the game world, so it's a good choice. Though you may want the Ring of Life for the little boost to your health. You're just starting the series? Take the ring. |

I picked the 'replenish hp and ill effects' gift which ISN"T FUCKING PERMANENT IT"S 3 FUCKING VIALS. Anyways great game, love it as much as Demon's Souls but by fuck sometimes they hang you out to dry sometimes. So I fucking kindle the first fire (in Dead Burg?) so now I get 10 health vials every rest rather than the default 5. So I'm dying even with the 10 vials (there's a boss nearby) so I'm like hey, let me kindle it again so maybe I'll get 15. So I cash in two humanities to reverse hollowing and kindle. Guess what? You can't kinds twice without the 'secret rite' which they don't tell you until you try. So now I have this humanity on me that I can't cash in that of course I lose because the game is hard. I love the fact that they don't hand hold your hand as there is a certain amount of excitement in not knowing exactly what each stat or item does but fuck me I didn't want to waste that humanity. Oh and you'll want to kill that knight that Floating Boy taught you to kill because it gives you weapon upgrade material. Who the fuck knows how you upgrade weapons but that's the fun right? I'd recommend to do your first run without too much FAQ checking just for to the full 'mystery' effect. On your second run you can plan it out to optimize your effectiveness. |

Oh and the 'Talisman of not allowing enemies to drink potions' for 500 souls is not permanent either, it's more like a bomb you throw at someone. |

The main difference is that in Demon's Souls, the worlds are split into sections (1-1, 1-2, etc.), and there's a hub area you can return to, instead of the bonfire system. Like I stated earlier, Dark Souls starts at a point you would reach about halfway through Demon's Souls. The developers are really fucking with new players. |

I found the guy that can repair/upgrade/sell gear. At that beginning firepit where the guy is sitting go down the stairs to his left. Find the path that leads you down to the elevator and go down. When you get to the area where there are about 8 or 9 zombie guys that are sitting around, to the right there is a guy lying down. Go down the stairs, on the left in the wall there is the guy trapped in a cell. |

Body Shots, or anybody else that needs help: 1) When you rest at a bonfire, all of the enemies, minus any bosses or subbosses that you've killed, are resurrected. Surprise, bitch! 2) Those are other human players, interacting with the same bonfire in their game. It's done for atmosphere, you can't directly interact with them. No teabagging here. 3) Hold L1 to block with a shield, or press L2 at the correct moment to parry with a small shield or bash with a large one. After a successful parry, hit R1 to stab the bitch. Takes time to figure out the timing. |
