Damn bro. Yellow light? I had a corrupted HDD myself last week. Lost game saves from 2007. I had to buy playstation plus for the cloud storage.

No it's a flashing red light. When I try to turn on it starts "whirring" like its booting up but then shuts down.

I hate when shit doesn't work right. Give this link a look:

I like the thought of a quick character that dodges and backstabs and such, it would remind me a lot of Ninja Gaiden (and in fact the Thief looks kinda like a ninja) - but I don't know if such a playstyle requires serious experience with the game's specific combat engine, maybe shields are much better and easier, etc. You have ignored this user.

None So Blind - Is anyone playing the Thief character? I like the thought of a quick character that dodges and backstabs and such, it would remind me a lot of Ninja Gaiden (and in fact the Thief looks kinda like a ninja) - but I don't know if such a playstyle requires serious experience with the game's specific combat engine, maybe shields are much better and easier, etc.

If you're new to the series, I wouldn't recommend the Thief to start. Both games have a very deep combat system, but they don't play at all like extreme action games like Ninja Gaiden or DMC. You'll want a shield for your first run.

Thanks alot, I'll try that. Have to unscrew the hardrive and reinsert it to reset connection to motherboard. Hopefully that works.

Thanks...so I guess if I'm new to the series, stick to ye olde warrior and try the funky stuff later. If it's as good as everyone says, I will certainly play it multiple times with different characters.

Two funny notes:

1. The hint guide for Dark Souls apparently had a VERY limited print run, and it was expensive and hardback to boot (about $25). It is sold out everywhere and now going for s/t like $50-$80 on Ebay...so I suppose if you see a guide book at your local shop, snag it and profit.

2. The website for Dark Souls is "www.preparetodie.com" - LOL, at first I thought that was pretty overly ballsy, but having played the game now, it sure is accurate :-P

I weakened him by climbing the ladder to get on top of the house and throwing firebombs at him. I also found that if you attack him as he is coming down the steep stairs (to the right of the ladder) his sword attack goes over your head without hitting you while you can stab him.

Body Shots - I started over from the beginning because I skipped a lot of shit..

I beat the Asylum Demon thing pretty easily this time.. Haha

I picked everything up this time and went down towards the black smith guy.. now I'm in undead burg and I passed the part with the fireball throwing guys, but I keep dying now trying to fight the big guy with a sword when you go down some stairs.. It's right where the other guy rolls a barrel at you..

I'm gonna retry tomorrow but man this game was worth the 60.. I bought Rage at the same time and have only played it once.. Think I might return it..

Go up stairs not down, the Taurus Demon boss is up, your probably too low of a level to fight the knight. You'll come back to him eventually when your a higher level. Phone Post

One way to kill the Taurus, if you're playing with a Warrior, or Knight, is to lure him towards the ladder you used to dispatch the Crossbow Undead (you did kill them before triggering the boss battle, didn't you?), while taking off damage between his swings. Then climb the ladder and plunge attack down to finish. Be careful though, the Taurus can jump up to fight you up there as well, so get up there and plunge attack as soon as you get up there.
