I bought a P220 a few years ago. Ended up having to send it into sig for problems (accuracy and reliability related). After messing with it a for a few months and never getting it to run reliably with factory ball ammo, I traded it off for something else. Personally, I like sigs, think they're great guns (albeit their DA/SA trigger is something I don't like), especially in 9mm and 40, but I got burned on one of their 220's and won't own one again. (I know I probably got the ONE sig 220 that malfunctioned, but it still bugged me that an 800 dollar gun didn't run after 2 factory trips). If you're looking at a low capacity 45 (under 10 shots), the 1911 has been the old workhorse for a long time now, I'm partial to Smith and Wessons and Para Ordinance myself (only ones I've found to make accurate, reliable guns out of the box). If you want a modernized design (different trigger, more capacity), look at H&K USP, Glock 21, or the Springfield XD. All hold significantly more rounds than the sig, are lighter and everybit as good as a normal sig in reliability and accuracy. As always, YMMV. |

I've had three Sig 220's, and still have a 245. All have run flawlessly. I did go with a short trigger on my 220ST, and had an action job performed at the same time, turn times were a little long, but the gun came back and performed smoooth. I keep my 220ST in my master bedroom, it is my go to gun. The heft absorbs recoil, my wife can even shoot it well. |

I have a P220 Equinox. It was malfunctioning about 1 out of every 100 rounds. I sent it back to SIG, and they replaced the extractor and polished the feed ramp. Reliability was improved. Then I bought the .22LR conversion kit and it was malfunctioning nonstop. I sent it back and they said the frame was out of spec and they wanted to send me a new gun, which I haven't received yet. If you read sigforum.com, there are a lot of complaints about the quality control recently in the last few years. The sentiment is that they've cut back on quality and are coasting on their reputation. Also their customer service is not good compared to some of the other major manufacturers. For the P220, a DA/SA trigger system is inherently difficult to get good at. You need to master two different trigger pulls and transitioning between them. You also need to train yourself to decock before you go back in the holster after shooting. The P250 has a double action only trigger pull(which can be okay), but with a very long trigger reset which is undesirable. I'd go with a S&W M&P, Glock, or Springfield XD. |

The 220 is the best feeling Sig that I've handled. I have an older 220 that runs like a top. With that being said, I wouldn't carry a new Sig. They have some serious QC issues at times |

I have a P220 carry that I purchased in November 2011. I carry it every day, both on duty(bank security for now) and off. I've run over 1000 rounds through it, both FMJ and HP, without a,single hiccup. At defensive distances, I routinely shoot 1/4-1/2" groups, and at 25yds, she still prints 1.5-2". I love this gun, best pistol I own, and that's saying something since I own roughly 25. |

Wow. That would make you one of the top bullseye shooters in the world. How did you do at camp perry last year?

I also have to qualify every 6 months, not CLEET required but my company requires it. I also never claimed they were all bullseyes, just that the distance between the two rounds farthest from each other was about 2". |

Yeah, at 25 yards that would make you one of the best in the world, even if you were using a tuned 1911 with a match grade trigger. Or maybe you exaggerated a bit?

Just 15+ years of practice and an inherintly accurate firearm. It's really not that amazing. I see vids on youtube of it all the time. I also see it at the gun club pretty often. |

From a ransom rest most pistols can't shoot 2" at 25 yards. Just saying. Post a video then I'll believe it.
