It's was nice actually having the "Photography groud" visited and posted on (more then 1 every 2 weeks). I've seen too many top listed threads here go weeks with no posts. So let talk about the new Cameras coming out in 2012. I am obviously a Nikon fan, but I also realize that without Canon putting out quality cameras/lens, Nikon would have nothing to work towards and vise versa. |

cluster - what's with the D800 not being able to use an extra battery to get better framerates? Sportmaster - I don't think the D800 is a sports/action camera. It's a high MP camera for landscape and studio work. Agree the D800 is not for sports, but I do wonder if the frame rate is low becaue of the file size or because Nikon wants to have a large diffence in rate to have people buy the D4 |

"but I do wonder if the frame rate is low becaue of the file size or because Nikon wants to have a large diffence in rate to have people buy the D4" File size is so large that you would fill-up storage media in seconds with high frame-rate???? Digital rot is taking it toll on my D3s so I am looking forward to getting a d4 when they become available. |

FWIW, I'm convinced that Canon has two versions of each camera upgrade and they just wait to see what Nikon does and based on that chooses what upgrade to release. |

With the D800 specs officially released now, Canon should be about ready to release the 5DM3 specs soon. |

You'd hope so. The latest lens releases are utterly puzzling. IS in a wide angle lens but not what the new 24-70? I'm sure they have a good reason for it, but I couldn't figure it out. Although I'm glad Tamron released a 24-70. I'd had the 28-74 recommended to me, but we'll see what the price/performance looks like. Might be just as well to pick up an old 28-75.... |

cluster - You'd hope so. The latest lens releases are utterly puzzling. Maybe they figure they don't need since Nikons 24-70/2.8 doesn't have it, and it would keep the cost down to match also. I wouldn't have paid extra for a nikon VR verson in the 24-70/2.8, not with the high shutter speeds I shoot at, guessing same logic maybe? |

MSRP is $2300. I know that will come down with time, but damn. The MTF chart is pretty sick and I'm sure it'll be worth every penny....to people who need that quality. Sadly (fortunately?) I'm not one of them. I'm still waiting for something to upgrade my XSi. |

5DIII At $2500 I'd buy one now At $3000 I'd consider it... At 43500, I'll wait and see what the 7DII is. |

^ I've read some really mixed review on this. Evenly split it seems between, "this is the greatest camera ever" to "they changed up the ergonomics so badly that it's unusuable" and "eh...it's cool but for $6K, you might as well keep the D3s." OTOH the hands-on reviews for the 5DIII are "they finally put a decent autofocus system in, so the camera suddenly becomes usable." |
