Greenup -That's what I mean I knew he said that so I was wandering if he had gone back on this and hadn't quit 10 days before or of he did and it just didn't clear from his system for some reason. My thought is still the same only time a fighter shouldnt smoke or a ban is justifiable is the day of the fight. To ban someone for a year and cost the at least 100's of k for having a smoke over a week before a fight is bullshit.ghostmaster - I was saying something similar earlier a year is far too long for puffing weed. I can understand the safety angle the commission take where someone shouldn't be stoned with fighting an can agree with that. But is that what happened here? Surely u can't actually fight stoned?? They should disregard the fact that someone is stoned in a general sense and restrict it to a few hours or so before and during the actual fight. I'm still confused how long before the fight do u think he was getting high.Could have been weeks but I think he said 10 days he would be clean for tests. Diaz said this in 2009 I believe so he either didn't quit in time or it was jusy a trace amount.

Smurphy - Easy TRT's aren't illegal on a federal level such as the green dope. <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/> Athletic commissions are not federal entities, they are under the directional authority of the states. |

goku -good questionStrykr619 -so does NSAC test for every federally banned substance?Maldini2706 - Both are used to treat legitimate medical conditions so how come taking steroids which are 100% PEDs is allowed with a script but weed (whose PED status there is much debate about) is not allowed. Seems like a pretty warped system. |

Weed isn't banned as a PED. As Kizer said its to stop people entering the ring high and with slower reflexes etc. it's the same reason why alcohol is banned. TRT is allowed when fighters test levels are naturally low and they are raised to NORMAL levels. Nobody is being put at risk. TRT isn't bringing in an outside, mind altering substance. TRT is allowing your body to have normal levels of a substance already occurring in the body. If they could test for weed to know if they have taken it that day it would be a lot better. But they would still have to test, even if it is legalized.

Why would smoking weed a week before the fight be a bad thing? |

NotJustA12er - If a doctor says he needs weed then an athletic commission should not ask him not to smoke weed . That's retarded.Yes / no ?

Captfireeyes - My guess, TRT prescriptions can be filled out in every state. Weed is only prescribed in a few, and is illegal in Nevada, where they tested Diaz. Medical Marijuana is legal in Nevada. Perhaps the ACs are attempting to follow federal law, though. |

BooZe -MMApostle - Because weed is illegal and can't actually be prescribed.Actually it is legal in California and you can get a prescription for it as well... In accordance with the Compassionate Use Act (CUA), which was passed in 1996, it is legal to use marijuana for medical purposes in the state of California. Since marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug by the federal government, it cannot legally prescribed by a physician nor dispensed by a pharmacy. |

federal marijuan prohibition is unconstitutional and obviously doesn't work just like the volstead act which made alcohol illegal - unbelievable, and end the federal government getting so involved in our lives. Isn't that what state government is for? jesus christ. |
