MarkRobinson - The phoenix force has never come to save mutants or mankind. It's a destructive force that fucks things up and let's whatever happens next happen.Cap's only option later would be to kill Hope. They're gonna watch her until it's time to kill her. It's not makinds responsibility but it is Scott's. Scott has no other choice than to have faith in Hope being able to control the Phoenix. Looks like Scott would let mankind be completely destroyed but that is no different than Cap willing to let mutantkind be completely destroyed. Like I said earlier, Cap could have sent a team of Avengers to Utopia to "watch" Hope, only reason to take her off Utopia is for when they feel they would need to kill her later. Btw, I just remembered Atlantis is underneath Utopia! I hope the writers remember that. |

Also, if Scott has lost it, than all the X-Men have lost it because I don't see Storm, Magneto and the rest of them letting Hope get taken. Also, how long will Wolverine stay with the Avengers? X-Force is responsible for the destruction of that American town, Wolverine is hiding that from the Avengers but Magneto knows what really happened. I don't see Wolverine lining up Angel and Apocalypse to the Avengers prison. I'm with the X-Men, no way would I give Hope up to the Avengers. |

I think Scotts being completely irresponsible. the rational people on the xmen are enabling him because he doesn't usually fly off the handle. Hope is a loose cannon that he can't control. She just blasted him a single issue ago. Cap wasn't quick to kill scarlet witch even though her power set was dangerous to everyone as well. They tried to discuss it democratically. When it comes down to it; if you ask me whether to kill hope, all mutants, all humans or potentially everyone... I'm gonna choose hope. I wish Scott luck but I won't agree with him. He's chasing a wacked out prophecy. Caps being a realist. |

Was the Phoenix force destructive before Jean got corrupted by the Hellfire club, or only afterwards. I don't remember Phoenix attacking Earth, even though it did fly to other solar systems and devour their stars. I'm with the X-men on this. After all, it was an Avenger that stripped the mutants of their powers in the first place and the Avengers should see Cyclops's point of view on this. The Avengers are jumping the gun on this and since they didn't have to deal with Phoenix before, they should try to work with the X-men, on Utopia, and maybe with the Shi'ar, not try to take over the situation and expect to know how to handle it. |

I don't care one way or another, I just want to see the scraps. But without Thor and Hulk to hand (even with Hulk), Magneto is a pretty big player. Are Skaar and Rulk getting involved? |

Thor Rulk and Hulk are around but theyre not letting us know what side Hulk will be on yet. I havent seen anything about Skaar. Nova's a big player too. |

they've got five of Marvel's best writers on this, so I'm confident that the story will be good. I would have loved to see what Rick Remender and Mark Waid could have contributed, though. |

I didn't buy that conversation between Scott and Cap at all. Scott thinks the Phoenix will save mutants...why? How? Cap wants to take Hope...why? Where? I find it highly unlikely Cap would kill Hope for something she may or may not do. I'd have liked to see a few more panels of discussion to be more convincing. I guess I'm on Cap's side for this, but it's kind of hard when he didn't say what he planned to do with Hope after taking her. |

They have been making scott and his group more villainous for a while now, just look at the members. That being said this reads like most leadups to a hero fight. Two heroes act stupid, bullheaded and somewhat out of character so we all have an excuse to watch them fight. |

This X Men group is strong, but I don't see how they could win. I see Cap, Dr. Strange, Thing, Spiderwoman, Giant Man, Wolverine, Hawkeye, Rulk, Luke Cage, Some Chick, Ironfist, Ironman, Black Widow, Spiderman, Black Panther and Daredevil. I see most of the X Men getting captured next issue, only to be sprung by some other X group. When did Black Panther join the Avengers? |

Don't forget, the X-Men have Exodus locked up in Utopia (I hope the writers don't forget) and he's down to protect Hope. No way the X-Men at Wolverine's school stay on the sidelines either. Beast is huge into reviving the mutant race, I don't see him being comfortable handing Hope over to the Avengers. X-Men also have the defense pact with Atlantis. |

I think Beast is on the space mission. I didn't know they had Exodus, he's a powerhouse. |

Scott's making a decision based on his own personal feelings, not the well being of the majority. Fuck Scott, he shouldn't be leading the X-Men anyhow. |

Granpa - Fuck Scott, he shouldn't be leading the X-Men anyhow. Oh no you didn't! Both sides are acting like clowns, but I'm more inclined to side with the X-Men. The Avengers are willing to violate Hope's civil rights* because of .... ? At this point, nobody knows anything. Yes, Hope wielded the Phoenix force - maybe. So has Rachel. So has Korvus (who should still be around in Milky Way). So has Emma. So have the Stephford Cuckoos. Heck, so did a clone of Jean Grey and Sinister is still around. *if Utopia really is a sovereign nation then it's a flat out act of war. |

Cap didn't violate anyone's rights. That stupid discussion didn't even explain what he was trying to do. On the flip side, Emma told Scott it was Hope's choice and Scott said it was not. The Avengers are holding some kind of weapons or something in that last pic, which makes me think they're going to come on pretty strong. |

How is it that Hope can Phoenix fire fuck Scott fifty feet before the Phoenix has gotten to Earth, or the galaxy even? My thought is that since she's an empath and the Phoenix is so powerful, she can leech off of it from that far away. Make sense or is there another answer?

Im curious, If exodus is so powerful, how are they able to keep him locked up? I'm mostly excited to see Thor in space vs the Phoenix. I hope it's epic. |

Zeno, Thor is back and at least running with the Avengers in the new Amazing SpiderMan run... I think he's as back as he's going to be. Hulk, I don't know about. |

Cap WAS violating her (he he) rights cos he said he wasn't asking. Hope blasted Cyclops by using his own power against him, like she did with the snake guy. She can copy mutant powers Thor seems unkillable. He died, went to where dead gods go and there was even a spell to make everyone, including himself, forget who he was yet he still fought his way back (despite his dead body being cremated, if possible)

Not the blasting he was referring to: on page two of this thread Hope clearly used some Phoenix-ness. |

MarkRobinson - Im curious, If exodus is so powerful, how are they able to keep him locked up? Because Exodus allows it...seriously. Exodus attacked Wolverine & company because they had fractured mutantkind. In order to stop Exodus, Rogue called for help from Scott and the Utopia crew. Since it took the combined groups to stop Exodus, Exodus essentially allowed himself to be imprisoned, claiming he had proven his viewpoint to be correct: mutantkind must unite or they will perish. |
