I would be interested to know how the lambs go. We're looking at putting a few out ourselves, but I don't know anything about their care and maintenance |

LoganClark - No, I will stick with my Russian for now. Though the death didn't seem as painless as it could have been, and I'm not a fan of that. My butchering friend wants to help me develop a market for my lambs with the significant Muslim immigrant population in our area. Bacon Wrapped lamb??? Sure fire hit IMO.. |

I've been clearing lots of brush and trees out of fencelines the last couple of weeks. Three people killed while cutting trees in the area this year. I'm careful. |

A few days after I last posted in this thread, my grandfather nearly killed himself cutting firewood. Self sufficiency is dangerous. |

Montana Moe - Any other folks here from the Missoula area? <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/> Helena cool thread. we are closing on our house/5 acres in a week or so.... this thread inspires. we are going to put up a green house because we don't feel like an outside garden would survive all the critters. found a cool plan here http://ana-white.com/2012/05/plans/barn-greenhouse and will be doing a variation on it. Going to start with a few chickens. The only outside connection is electricity, but obviously have propane trucked in. we have a wood stove as well in the ground floor. would like some solar, just to make sure the freezer doesn't tanks if we lose power. |
