I have a 89 C1500. 5.7 TBI. It started to overheat about a month ago so i changed the thermostat. It was running fine until now. The gauge will get hot then go back down. Sometimes it will go back up but sometimes it stay down. I dont see any leaks from the radiator. My heat work and I dont have any white smoke from my exhaust. I read that the fan may be the problem. I really dont have alot of money to through it in a shop. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

If it's the stock fan.............The clutch may have gone bad. Check to see if the fan is spinning when the engine is hot. It's probably working intermittently. Get some electric fans for a 95-96 Impala and wire them in with relays and a thermostat kit. About $150 total. Problem solved for good.ctric Fan Thermostat Kitt. About $150 bucks total investment.
