I've put together my preferences for my backline company; just wanted to get an idea of what others are using. |

I currently carry: -a pile of SM57s & SM58s as workhorses. -a handful of Beta58s & wireless 58s for vocalists that ask for them. -a few Beta52s for kicks & bass amps. -two Beta91s for inside kicks & pianos. -a pile of Beta98s for toms & latin percussion. -a couple of KSM137s for cymbals. -a Super55 for oldies acts. -a 520DX for harmonica. -an RE20 as a secret weapon. I'm still undecided on overhead mics & crowd PZMs. Not entirely satisfied with what I carry for those. Your thoughts?? |

No idea, I don't know shit about mics besides an SM57. As far as guitar amps, backlines that I've been used to is the standard Marshall or Mesa Boogie Half-Stacks. That's all I know about backline stuff (I know you only asked about mics, sorry). Good luck with the company, it's a bitch trying to make a living doing anything with music. |

57s & 58s are industry standards because they're affordable, durable, consistent & reasonably flat around the human hearing curve. Entire mixers are built around them. But you can't use them well without Eqing & there are better things out there. They're just kind of expected at this point.
