i think the article pretty clearly addresses the "lack of division" argument that everyone just parrots from dana..if they put ronda on a card tomorrow, it would sell...if they never do another women's card again after that, who carres? what is the damage? |

So it's ok for Antonia silva to look like he fell face first into a saw blade, but it's not ok for jennifer tate to have a knot on her brow? What you prefer being based on gender says something about how you think. |

How many times does it have to be pointed out that there are not enough good women fighters to make a division before people shut the fuck up about this? |

There were not enough good HW's in the UFC for over a decade to really 'make' that division but that never forced the UFC to shut it down. the division argument being shallow is stupid. |

XYZ anywhere on that card to make it more enticing? heck, ronda v. xyz would get more views than munoz v. weidman... |

kungfugrip - ufc fans already bitch about not enough big names on the fight cards even though there are more ufc now then before. Add women's divisions is going to make it worse. |

not sure if its cause there are so many insecure men on here or what but damn women are more exciting than guys, the ufc is missing alot of great mathcups and could build some great female divisions zuffa would love to keep women in the kitchen, thers not even a female fight this weekened on strikeforce, its as if they dont care, how the hell is womens mma supposed to grow when the zuffa gang has no respect for females? |

"but there is also a market of women who want to watch female athletes competing on TV. Take the WNBA, for example, which has been up and running for the past 15 years and usually brings in more viewers than UFC shows on FUEL TV. And let's face it, the WNBA is a horrible product" This is intentionally deceiving. The WNBA is not self-sustaining and there is no serious large scale demand for most women's sports. The public at large likes watching females doing feminine sports like gymnastics, skating or tennis. The WNBA is kept alive by piggybacking on the NBA's profit money and being subsidized. There is no shot of that shit flying in the UFC. Fist-fighting is not a female activity. Nobody wants to see smaller, weaker, less skilled people fight for 50 bucks a ppv. The ONLY female fighters to this day that people have cared to see are the ones that are either hot or willing to take their clothes off. Or both. |

ChaelsBallTastesSalty -Agreed. And such a small talent pool ... less then 4 or 5 matchupsJkdSam - Women have the right to fight if they want, but with that said, I have no interest in watching a woman mess up another woman's face, and I won't watch it.

I'd love to see female fighters in UFC. Watching the ladies fight has been the highlight of my night for many a Strikeforce event. They could kick it off with an all female TUF to generate interest =)All those women cooped up for weeks on end? Should be fun lol. |

MIKE CIESNOLEVICZ - There are not enough women to actually have competitive divisions IMO. Women in the UFC is about 10 yrs away at least. They need more numbers of talented women.I've got nothing but respect for you mike and normally agree with your posts but I have to disagree here. Granted there isn't the depth in wmma that the men's divisions have overall but there is enough at 125,135 to field legit divisions.

Still there are maybe 6 chicks top that could all rotate fighting each other but it would always been McMann, Rousey and Cyborg at the top rotating for title shots. Coenen, Tate, Kaufman would fall right below them. There are a few others here and there but none that would beat the above mentioned. |

Why would any woman train to fight for an Org that won't put up a division to let them fight in? |

Not interested. Watched a few fights and I find the image of a woman punched unconscious, lying on the floor, is quite disturbing. Not denying the athletic ability of some of those women, but it just doesn't appeal to me.

Ugh. People going on about this resurgence in womens MMA forget that ONLY Ronda Rousey is the star. The second she loses it becomes a novelty like when Kimbo got beat. I hope Cyborg beats her like she did Carano just so these articles cease to be. I mean, remember Gina? She was going to fight in the UFC? Until Cyborg beat her and everyone shut the fuck up about women fighting in the UFC. Until now. Rousey is getting pushed down our throats to the point she is like Laila Ali in that you know one name but there are no others in the game. Cyborg will beat her and then we can knock this off until the next pretty MMA female fighter comes along.

please, no women in the ufc, ever. if rousey is put on a UFC card at any point that will be shark-jumping moment for me (and i absolutely love her) not enough depth in division and to be brutally honest, i have no interest whatsoever in watching women fight. I dont know why there is so much pressure to have women in MMAs premier league when there is not equal pressure for women in the NFL, NBA etc. Please dont do it UFC |
