That's the problem with the mass availability of mitts and pads, everyone's a trainer.....

Hold both pads touching at top but slight triangle maybe 15-20 degrees separating bottom ends. Keep elbows down and tight. Make a slight push as the kick impacts. Pads are not fully side on but turned slightly towards the kicker Not a great description but pretty basic pad holding. Watch a vid as suggested

As I can see in the picture, the arms holding the pads have less strength and mobility. Maybe, the man is not really the trainer and the picture was taken just for fun. |

His left arm is fully straight, meaning if he takes a kick to it with some force he could hyper extend his arm at the elbow and cause some serious damage. Tow arm should be crooked at the elbow.

Watching people who have no idea how to hold pads teaching class makes me cringe like I just heard nails on a chalkboard.

The Sultan - Watching people who have no idea how to hold pads teaching class makes me cringe like I just heard nails on a chalkboard.I had one guy today where he turned both pads totally sideways when someone was kicking. It was a full retard moment where I had to run over there.
