Its very strange. When I weighed 180, I was able to do 5 reps with 90lbs (max). But now that Im 165, I struggle with 45lbs for 5 reps. wtf! although part of it is mental...I totally messed up my back during a set with 70lbs earlier this year, and I still feel the effects of it, so I dont push myself that hard. |

Long story, and I have no idea what the true issue is. 4 years ago, doing behind the back shrugs, felt some tightness in my right trap. Then benched. after that right trap and right side of my neck aches all the time and I had big time right shoulder pain. 3 years later the shoulder pain is gone. But the right trap/neck is still aching. But thats not a huge deal, so I continue working out. Early this year doing pullups with 70lbs. Felt a "pop" on my right rhomboid. pain radiated up to my right trap/neck. Rhomboid feels ok now, but the right trap/neck is still achy. But like I said, it doesnt hold me back when I workout. But...Afraid to go really hard on pullups as I do not want to injure myself again. |

^ lol, yeah. thats why I started the thread "whos in pain" because I think at my age (late 30s), and a lifetime of working out and exercise...its almost normal to be in pain. or maybe not. |

Well, normal is relative.... is it normal to have a lifetime of exercise? Also, depends on your own perception of pain as well... I don't suffer from what most people would call chronic pain. |

jkd_guy - Long story, and I have no idea what the true issue is.I have a very similar problem with my neck , I think mine is a result of an old shoulder injury . I was double legged and dropped on my left shoulder , it hurt for about a week or two and then slowly went away . About a month after this happened I noticed my left collar bone now sits a lot higher than the right . The neck pain gets worse when benching and doing over head press . I'm off to the chiropractor next week to see if they can shed any light on the exact problem. Sorry for the FRAT and bad grammar ;)

After reading this, I gave it a shot. I did 5 strict this AM with a 50lb dumbell between my feet. I might have been able to eek out a 6th, but didnt want to be fatigued for the rest of my workout. I weigh 150lbs. |

Turbo R - 20 reps with 1 plate (45 lbs) Those are some stellar numbers, are you a gymnast? Def should make video for credibility cos there's nothing like that on youtube. |

I am guessing with 19 posts since 1/0/01, we may not hear back from Turbo for a year or more so the title is still up for grabs. Those are sick numbers though if they can be confirmed. |

Turbo has a history of posting on "how much can you do" threads. What a weird way to spend your time.... I guess if there's any reason to remember your password once per year its to write about how awesome you are. More from the mighty mini man: Bench - 2008 225 x 12 300 x 1 5'8" 160 lbs bench - 2009 320 lbs bench at a body weight of 155 lbs |

At the advice of Leigh and Jeremy Hamilton I've been slowly increasing weight on a 5x5 program for pull ups without going to failure. I have to say my progress has been very good. I started with 10 lbs added 2 weeks ago and yesterday did 5 sets of 5 with 20 pounds quite easily. I'm hoping to get up to 45 or so in the next 2 months.
