I have the Austin City Limits DVD somewhere. That one was pretty damn good. Man I haven't listened to Stevie for a long time, even though I have quite a bit of his CDs. Had a pal who loved Stevie so much b/c of his guitar teacher, he even named his kid Stevie Ray. Anyway this is my most favorite song from SRV. Some of his songs aren't really that bad, he just seems so dishonest and insincere in his music, like a Fred Durst of his genre, whatever the hell the genre is nowadays that he's a part of. Idk what it is to me.... he just straight out seems like a contrived rip off artist that has no actual connection to his music... like he's TRYING to be a young pseudo-bluesman. The only progeny I liked from SRV's line was Jonny Lang. I listened to Kenny Wayne's early adult stuff too but it reminded me too much of SRV. Jonny I feel took it to a whole new level, and damn can he sing and get down. Los Lonely Boys although I like their music, Henry sometimes sounds too much like SRV as well. |

Cool, he's kinda got that Paul Simon voice thing going on, blended with someone else...I can't quite put my finger on it...maybe Michael Buble or something. Also always love the blend of steel and nylon string. |

girlfriend just bought tix to go see this nerdy hipsters band at some campy nightclub by NYU. not sure how i feel about it. thinking i'm gonna have to wear an ironic tshirt and skinny jeans to fit in with the crowd. maybe i'll grow a handlebar mustache. sport some thick framed geek glasses too. |
