i'm thinking this should be the mentality any more.
Man, 29, stabbed in Waikiki

A 29-year-old man with an apparent stab wound was found in Waikiki and taken to a hospital early this morning. City Emergency Medical Services officials said the man was transported from near the Waikiki Trade Center on Kuhio Avenue to a trauma center at 4:22 a.m. in serious, and possibly critical, condition. Honolulu police were called to the scene and are investigating. |

a gun has its time&place, as does the knife. in many circumstances the knife is better, faster and safer to use. |

Also there's a difference in escalating intensity and the lack of knowledge of how far something will escalate...for example, if the drug-addict-homeless-zombies that infest the perimeter of my building approach me at night, I have no problem pulling out my knife while they commence their exploratory exploitation banter. And that will end the conversation. However, it's kinda hard to realistically be brandishing a gun in the same situation. |

Speaking of homeless zombies besieging my apartment building, I was just on a world body mass index website (because of a funny conversation of sorts earlier today), and apparently Micronesia is the fattest country on the entire planet we call Earth. It has a higher BMI on the whole than even Tonga and Samoa. It is number one in the world. |
