He was definitely rocked and in trouble, but the illegal blows ended the fight. I get that Sakara was just going in for the kill but he probably should have defended the takedown, backed up and kept blasting him with elbows

The elbow was clean and rocked him, but the initial shot that actually dropped him was right to the back of the head too.

should have been no content IMO as sakara was winning but it would have been a bigger disgrace to the sport if sakara won with obvious (unintentional) shots to the back of the head. |

sockeye - Bullshit decisionHow bullshit? At least 5, possibly 8 consecutive punches to the back of the head and neck, Sakara made no effort to punch anywhere else. Disappointing as he could of finished from there with legal techniques, but didn't. The only bullshit about it is how slow Miragliotta was to react to that many blatent illegal strikes.

Wow, my first reaction is to say that decision is bullshit and Cote would have lost either way. Ill have to watch it again, maybe Cote would have gotten up without the donkey punches. But, we know those shots can cause permanent damage and the rule is there for a reason. He was pumped full of adrenaline and didn't pick his shots good enough. Either way, I don't feel that should be a win for Cote, I hate that ruling. Should be a no contest IMO.

The elbow wasnt what put him out. The 5 back to the head shots were, so its not relevant. Sakara def had the upper hand at this point in the fight though. He messed up and paid the price. |

Ref should have warned him and let him finish. Never seen a ref call a fight over, then go back and dq. Since when has instant replay played a part in the decision of a fight?? |

Those shots were so blatantly illegal.... there wasn't just one or 2 shots.... there was like 5-7. That must be punished regardless of circumstance. BTW, is it me, or did the referee only take action upon hearing the crowd and watching the replay? |

The ref let it go. He should have stopped it maybe after the second or third illegal shot. The ref let it go until the fighter was finished. Sakara is paying for the ref's incompetence. Cote should not have gotten the win, it should be a NC. |
