Mclay won my SN -  In,my dads a mason, and i was approached to join the lodge too but i think I'll be giving it a wide berth.Good for getting a well paid job though ill say that about em. Phone Post

Why give it a wide berth?

I can understand you not being interested in joining, but the wide berth comment makes it sound like you think there is something negative about them.

Well your right and very intuitive it would seem!Ill post afresh in a minute so as not to create a massive quote box. Phone Post

For me,i hated the elitism that a mason will have about him. Also the amount of power and influence they have is unfathomable to me at least. And the fact that some of them are scumbags and have this gift is repulsive to me.Their ceremonies are also a nause of mine. Phone Post

My grandpa was a relatively high level mason.  I never really got into it though.  I briefly looked into joining, but decided against it.

I met several Masons in Philly.  They were all extremely racist.

You ask them and must be approved by 2 members.. although I do think they are recruiting now in some places due to dwindling numbers are lackluster attendance.

I think at this point most people can join. If you're black you can join prince hall.

Also if you think you can get some special power or be part of some ruling elite, you should go elsewhere.

masons are no longer the ruling power and nowhere near the force they used to be. good for business connections and some friends I guess.

the new active masons are the single issue NGO's, think tanks, globalists etc.

Masons are still a strong symbol of revolution and there are many masons who are very powerful.. but overall I think their influence has waned.

It's not invite only, to be one ask one.

Generally,if you have to ask how to get in,ya ain't getting in.The lodge master on 2 occasions posted application forms already filled out with me just to sign the dotted line to my house by hand, this may not sound weird to you but it is,as there are questions on the form that enquire to your personal traits that this guy had 'answered correctly' for me. I don't know if i've seen elitism from them, but they certainly have great pride in their organisation. Understandably I suppose, considering they are probably the biggest and most well known fraternal org in the world and they have a deep and colorful history.

most blue lodge masons are nowhere near elite.. and are just regular folks that get together.

they are however well to do and somewhat influential in their local town. and many cops/judges are masons

once you get to the appendant degrees.. and into speculative freemasonry you will probably meet more powerful people.

also masons call the masses profane.. so yes they do seem to believe they are part of some higher class.

but i def. don't think all are scumbags. I know a few good nice masons on this board.. like Roman Monstrum.

yep.

I have no hard data to support this but I believe this is the reason why cops are always let go on paid leave even after committing police brutality or some other dastardly act.

I have no problem with secret societies or any other new age belief.. I do have a problem who make violent oaths and at the same time work in some type of public capacity.

Of course they have an influence today... but I don't think they are the world changing subverters they used to be in past centuries. their main role from my research was to liberalize or change the fundamental doctrines of various religions, esp. roman catholicism/protestantism. Masons encourage people from any type of mainstream organized religion to join.. and then proceed to teach them a type of naturalism that is in direct contradiction with religions like christianity.

implicit in this is a liberalizing effect.

It used to be this way.  You had to know someone or be sponsored to join.  However, membership rates have been declining and so they have had to open it up. You can now apply without sponsorship.  They still do shit like interview you in your home and all that in order to try to assess character, so it's not a guarantee, but  you no longer have to be sponsored.

what - There is a Freemason hall in every small town in North America, it is still somewhat popular in rural areas where there isnt much to do but watch your dog run away.

The masons and the symbology is engrained in the cultural fabric, the signs and influence of it are everywhere

I agree.

so in this sense they have left their mark.. but I dont' think they are nearly as active as conscious agents in politics as they were before.

but who knows.. they could still be running things. From their own admission they admit that they don't like direct action but rather to put people in the seat of revolution.

they are a society with secrets so I guess it's one of those things that you can't say for sure.

The Odd Fellows claim to have originated in the sixth century BC, but their earliest written records date back only to 1740s England. At that time, the Odd Fellows served two functions: 1) It gave members a financial safety net by offering a portion of membership fees as a form of unemployment, health, and life insurance; and 2) It gave members–all of whom were men–a reason to drink and get rowdy (as if anyone ever needed a reason for that).

Over time, their membership spread to Europe and North America, which was convenient because members who traveled from one place to another got a free place to stay. By 1911 the Odd Fellows had become the biggest friendly society in the world.

these guys are interesting. I need to look more into them.

it seems they run a type of insurance operation.. which is similar to what the knights of columbus does.

Most esoteric societies use this term, it refers to the uninitiated.
