Of course it should be for the belt. It doesn't matter if Anderson will defend it. He can vacate it immediately if he chooses (if he wins). If it's a five round fight at welterweight with the champion how could it not be for the belt? |

177 non-title superfight is really the only fight that makes sense... George won't come up to 185 without staying there. Anderson won't stay at 170 to defend his belt. George is also bigger now than ever before and was totally dehydrated for his last weigh-in. It's obvious that George can fight at 177 and still come in over 180. If Anderson made weight at 177, he wouldn't be much heavier than George on fight night. |

Tommyunited -The article basically says anderson hasn't said he's coming down to 170, and we haven't approached gsp about it but I'm gonna say belts not on the line without asking either of those guys about it.ortman166 - If Anderson has to cut to 170 he should get George's belt It means nothing don't let it get to you, it's not happening

ortman166 - If Anderson has to cut to 170 he should get George's belt I agree... If he can't win the belt, it makes no sense for him to cut all of that weight. George keeps talking about how "big" Anderson is... how Anderson weighs "230lbs" etc. But George also likes to say that Anderson should be about to make 170 because Anderson used to fight at 168. George can't have it both ways. If Anderson is 230lbs and "too big".. to 170lb is unreasonable. |

I think Dana is saying he doesn't want to name Silva champ if he has no intention of defending the belt. It doesn't sound like GSP has any say about it. But who cares about the belt with respect to this fight, seriously? Silva @170 is the only way I actually look forward to seeing this fight. |

Thats some horse shit right there. So he cuts to 170 for what legacy? his legacy will be greater if he is a multi weight champ. They should meet in the middle 177 if it isnt for a belt. If its 170 or 185 it should be for a belt |

hmmm George is intelligent that's what fight fans dislike about him, he wants to win this fight so bad that he'll take on a dehydrated Anderson Silva like come on its a gad damn honor to fight against Silva, i remember a few of years ago George would talk about how his legacy is the most important thing when it comes to mma,now a few years later when its possible that Anderson will fight him hes got on these bogus weight requirements...Anderson has no choice but to move down to 170, Anderson was being as reasonable as possible he wanted a fight at a median....that's fair that shows hespect to George as a fighter..George has got no honor and hespect!!why not seize the moment.ooh rite cause George has doubts in his mind that he wont even come close to beating Anderson. Anderson should suggest that if George wants to make this at 170 cause he candidly reminds us all, that Anderson fought at 168 in pride well why don't we bring back the good old days......UFC ANDERSON SILVA VS GEORGE ST PIERRE JAPAN!!!
