obviously with a cup, and even maybe regular underwear under but, I feel more comfortable grappling in them than lets say shorts that get caught on something.

While cornering a fighter at a small show in VA, a dude straight up fought (for a title) while wearing a pair of Shock Doctor compression underwear and that's it. Phone Post

I've seen a lot of dudes fight or grapple in compression shorts, usually the Nike Pro Combat ones.... Not my thing, I'll stick to shorts Phone Post

LOL - I've been kicking around the sport long enough to remember debates over wearing board shorts.

I think I still have a pair of Hunter Vale Tudo shorts (the half black half white ones) kicking around somewhere. Phone Post

I am honored to have a green namer in my thread, specially while bringing such exception knowledge. Thank you very much, legend.

I'd be scared I'd get reverse mounted and someone would pull my shorts down and rip my PP off.

Wearing a cup in practice is uncomfortable as shit. You go home, and you've got like hard rashes on the inside of your thighs from the cup. Shit gets in the way rather than protect more often than not.

Screw that. Just wear the shorts.

That's nothing. You know how Walmart has it's sport brand of comprehension shorts? I've seen some indian dude fresh off the boat wearing just that, with his shirt tucked in while on the eliptical at the gym.

Balls out and everything it was fucking hilarious.

If they get in reverse mount, and their heel starts to pinch your junk, tough it out. Honestly, it all comes down to comfortability. In wrestling, no one tries to take your back with hooks, so very rarely does your junk get hurt. But, in a MMA fight, a cup is recommended Phone Post

But this dude showed up for a pro fight like this! At least he was wearing a cup.

What's funny is he walked to the cage in a brand new Gameness gi. And he did win. Phone Post

My philosophy on it is, "when in Rome, do as the Romans".  My main school is a Jiu-jitsu place and nobody wears compression shorts.  So its gi pants or board shorts for me there.

I roll at my sons wrestling school a lot also. Its pretty common for guys to just wear the nike combat shorts or similar.  So ill wear the compression shorts when im there.

The compression shorts are way more comfortable and dont catch on stuff like regular shorts do.   They also dont have velcro that sometimes sandpapers the face like some board shorts do.

I dont ever roll with a cup.

"I don't ever roll with a cup"

Every since a dude's nut exploded during a roll, I've made sure that I always wear a cup.
