I had a friend whose house burned down. The insurance companies actually treated them very well. They rebuilt the house and paid rent on an apartment while the house was being rebuilt. They had replacement cost insurance so they got all their stuff replaced as well. It wasn't a fun process for them and they lost some family items that couldn't be repalced but from a financial point of view they ended up better off then they were before.

The guy is a pro MMA fighter who has no doubt made a decent living to date and who also undoubtably has insurance. While I do feel bad for the huge inconvenience this will put on him and his family, I can't help but think it's a little obnoxious to be asking for donations. There are lots of less fortunate people out there who could actually use cash right now.

I do feel terrible for the him and his family and I hope the insurance company doesn't make it any more difficult than they need to.

PS: I'm sending this message from my phone while on break at the youth shelter where I work. Donations are always welcome at establishments like this where every bit of funding goes a long way. Just making a point.

This. Sucks for the guy but come on. Also a lot of look at me types
on here, if you want to make a donation good work but do you need to tell everyone the specifics. Phone Post

First, I have to say, few fighters out there are making good money. Yes, they are out there, but they are the exception, not the norm. So, to insinuate that he has saved a ton of money and has some means to just recoup the loss is not very accurate, let alone the personal items that are lost. Even if he does have insurance, he will be paid pennies on the dollar for his lost items, and a lot of the items will probably not be covered, but again, that's if he even has insurance.

Second, to say that there are more less fortunate people that need the money right now? How the hell do you know that? Whose to say who is fortunate/less fortunate to receive peoples donations in a time of need?

Last, "obnoxious to ask for donations"? Clearly you don't have children. I have as much pride as the next person, however, I also have a wife and two kids and if something like this happened and I needed help in supporting them, I would get on my hands and knees and beg the entire world for anything and everything if needed. I would stand on a street corner with a sign to feed my family and I am sure Dennis would too. He is a father of four children trying to put his life back together. How dare you condescend to him while he tries to do that.

not always true i got paid a very fair settlement as did my brother when he had a fire

This is exactly what I've been getting at. People are just assuming that Hallman needs hard cash right now, and he's about to get thousands of dollars in the form of charity from the UG public. Until he goes Jon Fitch and actually says he's hurting as a direct result of this tragedy, then I don't think it's necessary to be asking people for donations on the fight forum.

But I've been told by many that I'm being ignorant and not sensitive enough so maybe I'm wrong. Phone Post

And your just assuming that he's got a ton of money you dipshit. GTFO of here. Are you really rallying to try and keep people from donating to a guy and his kids that just lost there home?????????? come on man...

I would help him out, but he made me look at his balls, and that made me uncomfortable.

Somebody gave 5000 dollars (!), others have given 1000 dollars and such, lots have given other amounts, and it's brought it to 13.3K.

That's not enough to replace a house, but it is NOT an amount to snicker at if you have lost everything you own, makes me smile from ear to ear.
