TheSwansBoingBoingedMyBaggies -Combat Sport Fan -TheSwansBoingBoingedMyBaggies - "yup as americans we must hate royalty." President Bush is to the USA what Prince Harry is to England. That makes perfect logical sense. The US does have guys like Erik Prince who became a Navy Seal and then part of Seal Team 8. He was the son of a billionaire that didn't have to go. Seems like a more appropriate comparison. Did your prime minister go and fight alongside Brits he and his government put in the line of fire? Or did he stay in his (not sure how big) mansion/house/apartment? |

By the rude bridge that arched the flood their flag to April's breeze unfurled here once the embattled farmers stood and fired the shot heard round the world |

Combat Sport Fan -This is where I don't understand your logic.RobinHood - The gun gives a lot of Americans a false sense of safety. Sure there are burglaries in the UK, because you have guns, does that mean they're none? No. I don't have the figures, but I imagine burglaries are higher in the US, or very close. Difference is, in the UK, we don't have as many guns, the burglar takes your stuff and leaves. He doesn't feel the need to bring a gun. There are extremely few armed home invasions. In America, the burglar knows the chances are their victim has a gun, so he brings his own. Can you see what's going to happen? If I'm going to get burgled I'd rather not risk the chance of getting shot too. As a Brit I don't understand America's obsession with guns, I can't see how letting anyone have a gun is anything but dangerous. I don't begrudge you them though, your country, your rules, even if it seems insane to me. It is quite funny to see many people rushing to defend their right to this amendment and saying he should stfu on the topic, therefore infringing on his right to free speech.

hedfunk -Combat Sport Fan -This is where I don't understand your logic.RobinHood - The gun gives a lot of Americans a false sense of safety. Not having a gun does not guarantee the burglar will not have a weapon of some kind. You act as if there is some sense of fair play with criminals. |

evad6317 -Of course not. But if as a society we don't have guns, the chances of them having one is severely lowered. Like is already is in the UK.hedfunk -Combat Sport Fan -This is where I don't understand your logic.RobinHood - The gun gives a lot of Americans a false sense of safety. I think it's painfully obvious the reason we have much less gun crime, is because we have much less guns. Arming yourself doesn't stop crime, that much is obvious, but it certainly increases the chance of death, for both the criminal an the victim.

"Arming yourself doesn't stop crime, that much is obvious, but it certainly increases the chance of death, for both the criminal an the victim." not for the victim, but definitely for the criminal. Does anyone really have a problem with that? |

Having a gun doesnt increase your chance of death it guarantees your fighting chance to protect your property. Unlike brits who get robbed and just say alright whatever. |

See this where you just start to ignore logic. Yes, in that last video (I didn't watch the others but I'm guessing they were similar) a criminal is shot and stopped. What If they'd missed and the criminal shoots them instead? This happens, you have to admit it. If I confront a burglar in my house empty handed or with a gun, which situation is more likely to end in my death? The one in which the criminal feels he is in most danger. Yeah losing stuff sucks, but material things can be replaced, your life can't.

hedfunk - See this where you just start to ignore logic. did you just accuse someone of ignoring logic...then say
the scenario that ends with YOU getting shot is the one in which you have no gun but the criminal does over the one in which you DO have a gun?
seriously???? |

You ignore logic when you assume you or those close to you won't be harmed. Does harm only come to those who can defend themselves? This is the same mindset the passengers on the airplanes that slammed into the WTC had. |

lets go ahead and take a look at logic again...
which store is more likely to be robbed a convenient store (7-11, wawa, etc) or a gun shop?

"If I confront a RAPIST in my house empty handed or with a gun, which situation is more likely to end in my DAUGHTER BEING RAPED? The one in which the criminal feels he is in most danger." I changed a couple words in your quote to see if the logic is consistent. Nope. |

so hedfunk, am I to understand that in your opinion, if I am confronted by a criminal in my house, say a robber, murderer, or rapist, or just some sadistic motherfucker who is out to terrorize someone, the best course of action is to extend my hospitality to him and make sure he is comfortable and feels safe and secure? Perhaps I should offer him some tea and cookies? Maybe give him some slippers and a nice comfy robe? I mean, after all, I don't want him to feel like he's in danger, right? Which means I should do whatever I can to make him feel as safe, secure, and comfortable, right? And of course, if he wants to rape my wife or daughter, i should offer him a condom....for safety.....right? hedfunk, you are a fucking moron. There's no kind or gentle way to put it. You are free to suck your wife's rapist dick if that's what makes you happy but personally, I want a criminal in my house to understand that he is in fact in mortal danger and his options are limited to either dying or being hospitalized with several gunshot wounds. I may not prevail in an encounter but if I die, at least I'd like to know that I died trying and fighting, not bending over and offering up my entire family's asses to him. |

That's probably because even the app knows you're retarded. And thanks but you can save the hugs and kisses for the rapist.

hedfunk - See this where you just start to ignore logic. It always amazes me that gun control crowd resorts to the "next best" argument. "What if they miss and the criminal shoots them instead?" What if it turned out the criminal had no bullets or a non functioning gun, what if even the miss scares the hell out of him? Would that still be a success? This hypothetical can go on and on. Here is one for you. The criminal in the video didn't cover his face, there are confessions from criminals who didn't cover their faces during robberies that said they walked into the store with the mindset of leaving no witnesses once they took the money. If you confront a burglar and he has a weapon, you already upped your chances of him using it or at least attacking you. The feeling of him being in danger comes directly from the confrontation, they don't process things like robots, human, arm, gun. They just say oh shit the same way you would. The whole point of a gun is stopping the threat immediately. Homeowners aren't police officers yelling "Stop in the name of the law!" They are shooting the moment they see the burglar face to face, and as long as they reasonably feel the burglar posed a danger. You also need to realize burglars already know that there is a chance they might be confronted with a gun, so the moment they see a homeowner it is similar to a police officer seeing a bad guy quickly move his hands and they shoot. If their fight or flight kicks in and it lands on fight, you having nothing in your hands guarantees someone is getting hurt and more than likely you, since you weren't expecting a fight. A gun doesn't mean you have to go to the fight, it just means if the fight is near you or is brought to you, you are better equipped to end it. |
