Ortiz was given little chance to beat rising star Bader but we all know how that turned out. For some reason I have a feeling Penn may do the same this weekend. I know Rory is a very big, strong, explosive WW and BJ is an underdog for a reason ... but even though I'm no fan of Penn I just can't help but hoping (and thinking) he's going to pull off a shocking, spectacular KO or sub. |

That comparison is kind of ridiculous. Penn has 3 recent losses but they were to Diaz and Frankie. Everyone talks like he was on some downward spiral but who can beat those guys? And please don't say Bendo. I don't wanna get into an argument about it but IMHO Frankie closely won both. My point is this BJ is nowhere near as past prime as that Tito was.

Before I clicked on this I was like, sure he could get with a busted-ass pornstar and raise a family while spending her money like it was his but why would he? Then after clicking on it, yeah I can def see him winning this fight

I never thought Bader was very good. Admittedly he is my 2nd least favorite fighter but i think comparing him to rory is unfair to rory. |

He's got a hell of a lot of fight left in him (if he wants to). Tito was losing to all the best, at the time, and didn't evolve or go train with outside stud camps to check his old habits. Seems like BJ is correcting that wrong with bringing in many killers. Tito's t Rex arms didn't help none either or his back issues. That said, it's a shame that Penn left the 155 class because he was wrecking all other comers besides Frankie. Would love to see him back down there as there are a lot of interesting fights for him there.

As much as I'd jizzy my jeans seeing Penn win, it couldn't compare to  I've never been a huge fan of Ortiz, but that was some emotional stuff *has something in his eye right now* |

Tito was waaaaaaay more past it than Penn. I'm not even sure Penn is past it. He isn't in his prime but I think he's not really that far off from his best days, he just fought a bad matchup (Frankie - and half the people still think he won their first fight) and other than that he's been fighting in the wrong weight class. If Penn was fighting at 155 I don't think anybody would be saying he's washed up, IMO he'd be top 5 their on his worst day. At least Penn is approaching the weight cut more sensibly this time...instead of weighing 167 with pants and shoes on and a visible gut, he says he's at 175 with under 10% body fat. That's a vast improvement for him. Still the wrong weight class though - guys like Bendo and Maynard probably weigh 175 inside the cage after rehydrating. All these WWs are 190ish with under 10% body fat. So Penn is still fighting bigger dudes, and even if he had P4P equal cardio as them, he'd still gas out first due to size disadvantage. I don't know why Penn seems addicted to approaching his career in totaly the wrong way - but, that's largely the reason so many love the guy :) Fights anybody, any weight class, F*** logic. |

Tap In - A lot harder to get the one punch game changer ko at 170 not when you are BJ Penn. I hope BJ can win this fight. It will be tough for him, but he has the skills to do it. I do not think Tito vs Bader and Penn vs Rory can compare at all. |

Well they both based their diets around pineapples for these fights. That in itself makes this theory pretty air tight.
