Miguel Cotto being trained by a former coach of the Cuban Olympic boxing team. Practicing movement and pivots on sand probably strengthens the legs and feet something fierce. |

I like both Roger Mayweather's and Miguel Cotto's trainer/coach's approach. I think it is important to practice footwork in context with both the offensive and defensive aspect of boxing. It only makes sense to move with a purpose. Footwork should be functional to the activity in ones is training in. I also think there are many general exercises and activities one can do in order to develop the strength, speed and even dexterity for footwork. These activities include jump roping and the exercises seen in the Miguel Cotto video. |
