Yup, end of year grading, was promoted to blue by my coaches Marcelino Freitas and John Donehue. To say I'm stoked would be an understatement. I've been grappling for years but have never been able to put in a really consistant run due to work/injury issues, so I'm over the moon to have achieved this. I know it's only the first step on the ladder but it'll keep me smiling for a long time:-)  (L-R: Walber Briro de Barros, John Donehue, me, Marcelino Freitas, Rodolfo Marques) |

You should definitely be happy and proud, enjoy the accomplishment. I think it's rare to get all the way to blackbelt without some setbacks and detours. The fact that you've already experienced your share of those things and still persevered means you know how to stick with it, which will serve you well in your journey ahead. |

Congratulations. I just got my blue last night. Completely unexpected. To be honest, I didn't think I was ready but I guess my coaches know better than me. There's something comforting about being a no-expectation white belt, rather than being a fresh blue with all the whites in the gym gunning for you. I guess that is just motivation for me to train harder. |
