In Judo we don't use Japanese words we use english, same with every other sport that occurs in north america. I don't know and am too lazy to figure our what Pluma or medio passeo or whatever is. I also don't understand metric so can we use imperial terms for those also |

It's not to hard to figure out and everyone should know the metric system. It is the system of the world no reason people should change to the archaic American system.

Barista: Venti is large. Danny: No, venti is twenty. Large is large. In fact, tall is large and grande is Spanish for large. Venti is the only one that doesn't mean large. It's also the only one that's Italian. Congratulations, you're stupid in three languages. It's OUNCES!! Venti!! 20!! 20 ounces!!

HolyAvengerP5 -Heel Hooker - In Judo we don't use Japanese words we use english, same with every other sport that occurs in north america. that was funny. I don't drink coffee but went stumbling into starbucks about three days into a Vegas trip trying to get something to wake me up. I was running on about three hours sleep after partying pretty hard the whole trip so I might have been legally retarded at that point, but that starbucks menu fucked my world up. It took the poor bastard behind the counter like five minutes to explain how to order something while the people in line behind me tried to get my head to explode through sheer will power. I think I started by trying to order a venti and then being confused as to why he was asking me a venti what. motherfucker I said a VENTI now go get it! |

Ippon? O-soto-gari? Juji-gatame? Osaekomi? Randori? Shiai? All the judo I was ever exposed to was replete with Japanese language terminology. |

Jayhof - This initial post ignores the fact that English derives its linguistic roots from: This is actually inaccurate. Modern English has no greek roots. the history of English is as follows 1. Celtic 2. Latin 3. Old German 4. Old English 5. Old French 6. German and French merged to form modern English. |
