Also of note, Quinton Jackson vs. Saku was the first Pride fight I ever watched. I was instantly hooked, and instantly a fan of both guys. Although QJ's personality in recent years has became pretty shitty, he will always be one of my favorite fighters. |

The only thing that highlight is missing is Rickson Gracie. |

i was in the arena when royce fought sakuraba. i was only a few inches away when sakuraba pulled that armbar on renzo. still remember all the cameras above my head flashing that armbar. those days were incredible. people who watch now UFC and say it is much better then Pride, just have no clue. it is a lot worse and also a lot more boring too. Pride was when you watched as a kid Wrestlemania 3. and see the match between hulk hogan and andre the giant. machoman vs steamboat. that feeling , that exciement that was pride. you only understand this if you understand fighting by heart. not technical level, but by heart. |

Mattapooh - That was really well-done. Shaking Helio Gracie's hand had me choked up a bit, that's such a hard moment to understand without knowing the history but it's just so BIG. this.... this was the greatest part of the vid... there's so much behind that moment and when helio puts that small smirk/smile on his face.... it's crazy respect on both sides. |

Great video. I don't think it's a coincidence that I started to lose interest in MMA around the time that Sakuraba and Pride disappeared. |

The admin. from AsianMMA.com said in a thread that Sakuraba's personal finances are fine but the gym membership was at an all time low and in a very expensive district. |

Great highlight. Thanks. Sak was so well rounded and cross trained - especially for the time. His striking wrestling and grappling were all topnotch. Wow - I miss pride. UFC is good but simply not the same. And he fought just about every tough fighter at every weight class on the planet! His opponents are the history of MMA. including: Kimo Conan Tiger White Carlos Newton Goes Belfort Braga Macias Royler Metzger Vovchanchyn Royce Renzo Ryan Wanderlei X3 Rampage Crocop Nino Randleman Minotoro Arona Shamrock Minowa Manhoef Tamura Ralek Marius Zaromskis Here is a link with he opponents and record. Fucking amazing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazushi_Sakuraba |

Man I got so nostalgic watching that video. My favorite times in MMA. Those epic Pride events were my absolute favorite. It's also the time I was getting hardcore into BJJ, boxing, and MMA. Damn near makes me want to cry lol.
