Showed some great diverse skills but he was fighting a guy he looked like he was 2 divisions larger than. The showboating turned me off, he should have been able to finish if he was gonna do that. When Anderson showboats, you know he can seal the deal at anytime. While Rory continues his rise in the WW div, lets put this in perspective. BJ is still - everyone forgets - a LIGHTWEIGHT. A 155lber. Not sure what this means for Rory and the rest of the top WWs. I do look fwd to the rematch with Condit. But lets put Rory vs BJ's careers in perspective. BJ is Rory's biggest win thus far in his career. Against a LW and 15 fights into his career. BJ, by contrast took out Din Thomas and Kaoru Uno in his 2nd and 3rd fights. Din was around top 5 and Uno was 2 fights removed from being the #1 LW. In BJ's 8th fight, he absolutely smashed Gomi. And in his 9th fight, he submitted Matt Hughes. That would be like Rory going up to fight Anderson and not only beating him but beating him by finish. Anderson may be the GOAT but Hughes was the absolute man when BJ tapped him. Rory wasnt even in the UFC in his 9th fight and beat Mike Guymon in his 10th fight (UFC debut). This is coming from a Canadian as well. While I like what I saw skillwise from Rory, BJ had accomplished about 100 times more by this point in his career. Look fwd to seeing Rory's future but that showboating didnt impress me. Respect to BJ. Continuing to fight the best in a div larger than him. |

Entreri - Dude, even GSP said Rory is better than him at that age, and will be champion. I think i clearly drew the line between what BJ had accomplished at this point in his career. BJ is the real Prodigy. Rory is good but BJ was better. |

Rory doesn't have the luxury of fighting in an era where a 3-0 record gets you a title shot. I get the feeling that you don't need to be told that. |

Thread starter is clearly someone that is bitter BJ got beatdown. BJ wanted the fight and has this obsession with Firaz's. While BJ's best days may be gone he still fought Fitch well in the first 2 rounds and Nick Diaz in round 1. Not many people beat up BJ on the feet. What Rory did was impressive when he is more known as a takedown/GNP fighter. Nick Diaz took more hits from BJ in round 1 than Rory did. With all that said BJ is A great fighter who is his own worst enemy in taking fights like this and for his overall atitude of blaming something else for his losses. I don't care for Rory Macdonald but he performed great. |

Rory had the luxury of fighting a guy who was gassed and wobbly in the first round and couldn't finish him. Not a good showing IMO. |

Instead of focusing on getting better prepared for a serious 155 title run he will probably accuse GSP's camp of steroids and tell Firaz's he should fuck himself. |

And you dont need to be told that BJ beat Din and Uno in his 2nd and 3rd fights and that Din was around top 5 and that Uno was 2 fights removed from #1....cuz i already mentioned it. Who had Rory beat comparable to that after 15 fights? He couldnt even finish a LW just now. BJ tapped out the WW champ in his 9th fight. |

Agree he doesnt need to be fighting WWs and the best ones at that but point being that Rory was showboating against a legend and a man way smaller than him who he could not put away. I liked Rory up to then. I still think he's good but lost a bit of respect there. Everyone should think twice about showboating against a legend. Everyone should also try as fck to finish a guy you're showboating agianst, esp a guy that looks he's 30lbs less than you. |

Ansari -Obviously you do. Times has changed since the early days of MMA, to even compare two different generations of fighters' record and accomplishment is not realistic. Bj being a legend isnt even debatable. But he is not the most respectful fighter like GSP, Fedor, Shogun, etc. He did plenty of trash talk before this fight as did Rory. Diaz does a lot of taunting as well. It just boils down to who you give a free pass and are a fan of. Bj licked Sherk's gloves after the fight and also accused him of roids before the fight. He also kissed Hughes and licks his blood.. I was rooting for him at the time but facts are facts. |
