Mainstream media are leeches. They will cover anything they can spin negatively with regards to MMA.

Lol yeah I saw that too, could you imagine if he would have actually won. Dana would have to duct tape Nates hands in his pockets. |

Symbolically puritanical apple pie culture loves a goofball like Benson and loves hating a guy like Nate who uses certain symbols and words that they demonize as an easy means to affirm their own perceived goodness, but from my perspective, Nate is probably the more praiseworthy of the two.

Wow, you can't throw up the finger on national TV. Go figure. I am a fan of the Diaz brothers but some of you guys who ride their respective jocks are a joke. Despite how much you love them fact is you, me, the Diaz brothers, or Barack Obama cannot be shown on national TV flipping the bird. Get over it. |

Isn't it kind of hilarious that a guy can stalk a wounded.man with death in his eyes, beating his disoriented brain until he snores in his own blood on national television but he can't raise a finger as a mere means of communication?

Joe_Drogan420 - I think I've seen nascar drivers flip the bird before on fox with no media firestorms. There've been penalties for this http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aEFDLLNlfxgE&refer=home http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/blog/from_the_marbles/post/The-price-of-a-bird-Kyle-Busch-fined-25-000-fo?urn=nascar-283868 and in other sports as well http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1106982/index.htm If MMA is to remain a blood sport with a pay-per-view cult following, then, yeah, sure, flip the bird. But it's to be mainstream competition shown in prime-time on a broadcast network, then it's not unreasonable to expect a certain degree of professionalism and sportsmanship. |

Stupid to make a big deal out of it. And I imagine FOX doesn't have a problem as Nate has done that throughout his career and they've chosen to put him on as a main event twice. Also, pretty much any Family Guy episode is way more inappropriate than watching a guy flip the bird, and that's on FOX weekly. |

I've never understood why flipping the bird is so frowned upon on US TV. Like Jupes said, attempting to mash somebody's face is ok, but don't you dare waive your finger at me!

That's pretty ridiculous actually. I just hope this doesn't pressure the UFC into forcing fighters to play nice for the camera. |
