Because Jon Fitch sorta kinda just kicked his ass.

He played Fitch's game and still almost took Fitch down and choked him out. Yet people act like Fitch took him down for 3 rounds and did what he wanted.

Rory got smashed by Condit, nobody forgot him. If one loss like that makes all mma fans forget you, it's pretty sad. Especially since 4 of most people's top 5 p4p have losses when they were up and comers, and some pretty bad ones too. Phone Post

NorthFromHere - Not in the UFC yet but Bellator WW tournament winner Andrey Koreshkov (13-0) is another bright rising star. 22 years old, vicious striking and loads of athletic talent.

Hathaway has had inconsistent performances in the UFC so far. He is a good allrounder but not great at anything.

I love his striking but his wrestling and takedown d is HORRIBLE. Unless he gets 500% better at that he has ZERO chance against good wrestlers.

How much does gunner cut to make 170? Do you know?

Gunnar walks about at 170lbs. I've seen him step on the scale with his clothes on and weigh 168lbs.

I disagree about "don't fix what isn't broken". Why wait until he gets smashed to move down? He is incredibly talented, but I don't think he can give up 15-20 lbs. against the top WW's and do well. Giving up size and experience is too much of a disadvantage.

I think he should move down now and work his way up to the LW title. If he wins it and holds it for a while then think about moving back to 170 later.

The guy beat jeff monson in a grappling competition.
He gave GSP a hard time when they trained together. He always has LW as a backup. He's undefeated at WW. Win lose or draw if he drops and wins 4 in a row he's got a title shot Phone Post
